    7Hz Impressions & Discussion

I have a simple regular PC with a budget DAC/amp. I'm aware that it's far from an ideal source in terms of "cleanliness", but acquiring an alternative setup with a dedicated player and other peripherals (SSDs, etc) is complete overkill for my use-case. Anyway, I have a conclusion to my problem...

    7Hz Impressions & Discussion

I don't listen to my local files, but I mostly stream. I've found that Tidal's FLAC is more than enough quality for me. I doubt an electrician would be able to do anything, because the building was constructed in the 1970s and it was usual to to simply not include a ground/earth wire in the...

    7Hz Impressions & Discussion

When the laptop is on battery-power only, i.e. not connected to the AC, I don't hear it anymore. This brings me to a few other questions: 1. Can I risk damaging the IEM if I use it further? 2. Does that mean that the planar drivers in the 7Hz are too sensitive and pick up the ground/earth loop...

    7Hz Impressions & Discussion

Hey, guys! Wonder if someone here could help me with a question regarding the 7Hz Timeless I've got a few days ago. It's a troubleshooting problem. I've noticed a very faint, deep-note electrical buzz in the right piece. I seriously can't tell if it was there in the beginning. It's like a bass...

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

I have the ER3, but they're supposed to be the same as the ER4, and the bore diameter of the CP240 is too big for the earphone. If I insert the tips in my ears, and then hold the Etys with my fingers to make a temporary seal, they sound OK. It's not really a great method for any kind of in-depth...

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

Due to the standard of living in my country, I'm pretty much always on a budget when buying audio equipment, as the prices are mostly adjusted for the Western wallet. The exception is the whole Chi-Fi revolution, which is why the T2 was so amazing to me. After all those V-shaped phones that I...

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

I'm also a proud owner of the ER3XR as of a few days ago. Even with the sky-high import fees and taxes to EU, I still find them well worth the price. I've had them on my mind for a long time, mainly due to Etymotic's reputation. No chance to demo them in my country. What pushed me over the edge...

Meze 99 Neo Discussion + Impressions Thread

I also got the 99 Neo during the Black Friday sale. Some months later, I just wanted to give another +1 to the PU/hybrid pads for the 99 Neo. They change the sound in a very, very positive way. With the stock pads, I found the sound... well, a mixed bag. The quality on the whole was evident...

    True-Fi Software by Sonarworks

I'm a happy True-Fi user as of a few days ago. Gave the free trial a spin, and the way Sonarworks offers it is really commendable: no registration, no activation, no limitations. Just download the file, install, and enjoy it for 10 days with absolutely no limitations. As trivial as it may sound...

CHIFI LOVE Thread-A never ending IEM-Heaphones-DAP-Dongles Sound Value Quest

Well, then it could be. Though personally I doubt they really solved anything regarding the greening, But then again, I don't really mind the color of the cable anymore. It sort of bothered me in the beginning, but now I couldn't care less. It's a cosmetic thing that nobody's even going to...

CHIFI LOVE Thread-A never ending IEM-Heaphones-DAP-Dongles Sound Value Quest

I don't think that's the cable "issue" that's been solved in the v2 of the cable. The only thing they updated is the strain relief and the MMCX connectors. The rest is exactly the same - it's still going to turn green sooner or later.

CHIFI LOVE Thread-A never ending IEM-Heaphones-DAP-Dongles Sound Value Quest

@Lifted Andreas Well, I'm talking about use with every type of tips - silicones (SpinFit, KZ starlines, the generic ones that usually come with IEMs) and foams. In that particular instance I described I had foam tips. But, if people are getting poor isolation because of a bad seal, then it's...

CHIFI LOVE Thread-A never ending IEM-Heaphones-DAP-Dongles Sound Value Quest

One thing constantly mentioned that I don't get - "isolation" and how good/poor is it with a given iEM. So far, I've tried a bunch of earphones, and I could not name one that I'd characterize as having poor isolation. Being a happy user of the TinAudio T2, just the other day there was some...

Best audiophile metal and rock albums

Well, there is absolutely nothing wrong about the usual suspects. If you're a complete newcomer to the genre, that's a good way to get you started. The trouble is, it may also give someone the wrong impression, such as that all metal is bleak and dark, or that X is this and that. Some people do...

Best audiophile metal and rock albums

Well, your buddy essentially listed the most popular bands in rock and metal (which is the lazy way out when giving someone recommendations). From what you said, I'm thinking you should probably stay away from straight-up metal. Hard rock would be more to your liking. I'm going to skip the...
