SONY IER-Z1R
hey! YEah what I am hoping is they will keep moreorless the same sound as Z1Rs but provide more headphone like experience due to the various tech in them esp open drivers and kinetic bass. lets see , as if that were the case Id like to keep my flexible hugo2 setup going vs investing is...- daniel_hokkaido

Hey gents. Happy z1r punter here but I'm excited to be able next week to try out the new fir audio xenon6 at my local store! Will report back as its sound sig appears in the ballpark of big bass + better dynamics/soundstage. Let's see how they compare to the sonys. Any here with a view please...- daniel_hokkaido

SONY IER-Z1R
Congrats on the purchase! I am 1.5 years in but did spend quite a bit of time tip rolling as I found getting a tight secure fit within the canal is key to stablising the iem body and taking its weight away from the cartilage ridges of the out ear. I use ML in the triple comfort now exclusively...- daniel_hokkaido

ha cool dude glad you like the h2. do you use cross feed or the filters? I personally leave them all off ... I am using with nice moon audio coax and the xduoo digital out transport ... I will keep a look out for those iems. Cetainly the tubeless tech in the Fir audios and 64 audio + use of...- daniel_hokkaido

Hey nice to get your input there. single driver is definitely something I appreciate. like I am always in awe of how in phase these multi driver iems are but not sure at times if just throwing money at TOTL single driver iem would be a good shout too. I just don't want an open back one like...- daniel_hokkaido

SONY IER-Z1R
hey all Re capacitors topic I also have a chord mojo1 and used that for first 6 months of my ownership of Z1R. Hugo2 is leagues better (after brain burn in esp) ... I am also wondering am I misusing terminology with dynamics? At lower volumes the combo sounds just allround a smaller audio...- daniel_hokkaido

awesome thanks for all the feedback. Im not really trying to replace the Z1R sound but adhere to its basic tuning but get gains in soundstage and dynamics I find it doesn't sound as dynamic at lower volumes. I don't know if that is psychoacoustics or something or due to the impedance or some...- daniel_hokkaido

Chord Electronics - Hugo 2 - The Official Thread

What are you using as a source? I jumped from 6 months of mojo to hugo2 and along with burn-in I found the added power, clarity and neutrality helped get the highs and mids more balanced with the great powerful bass as you said- daniel_hokkaido

Agree ... I can imagine minority could really find these uncomfortable. Good fit depends on tight fitting tips so you anchor the iem weight into the ear canal preventing the iem outer body from leaning into any ridges on your ear. I had that at the start and swopping up a size in tips helped...- daniel_hokkaido

SONY IER-Z1R
Yeah for how engaging the Z1R is relaxed is something that also is true...or smooth perhaps. I got into headfi as to my ears the upper freqs were rough and harsh .... perhaps Z1R is best example of iem solving for this issue to my ears. The Z5 didn't achieve that and I am grateful Sony are so...- daniel_hokkaido

SONY IER-Z1R
I personally found a bigger improvement , esp around soundstage. Z1R needs good source and amp. I upgraded from mojo to hugo2 and it is a killer package. The Z5 also scales well with hugo2 but compared to Z1R sounds smaller, more congested and less instrument placement/separate to my ears. Also...- daniel_hokkaido

SONY IER-Z1R
Getting the point where if I didn't own the Z1R I'd consider buying 2nd hand or waiting on the followup. Def think they will stick with the linear audio path design and partial cross over design. Prob will need to tweak size too. What do people think ? Id not be surprised if Sony made their own...- daniel_hokkaido

I just got the same cable again. Was free under EU warranty. I live in Spain but got them via Sony Centre Wembeley in UK and haggled them down to 1500 sterling from 2000 ... I just pointed them to SONY USA site where they are 1700 dollars and said with exchange rate + 20 VAT the fair price is...- daniel_hokkaido

I did this to demo the Z1Rs with the Kann 4.4 vs mojo SE and partly why I feel my original sony cable shroud came off on of the connectors. I got new cables and those ain't ever coming off.- daniel_hokkaido

nice! Love that album! Really a pity it also didn't get remastered and whoever did it for bluelines needs a shake of the hand and they balanced the increased loudness perfectly with better instrument placement and dynamics ..was religious experience !
