The Clear with the Oppo HA-1 in balanced sounds OUSTANDING. Really, compared with the Utopia (in non-balanced) sounds more dynamic, more enjoyable, more FULL. But at last in all ways te Utopia are above the Clear. Both are terrific headphones.

I have many headphones. Denon 2000 and 7000, Oppo PM-1 and PM-3, AKG K70. Nothing can compare with Utopia. When you put the Utopia in your head, nothing else exist. That's the reason for buying the Clear's, To make it portable with my KANN. Enyoy the Clear

I admit that you are right. But I don't know how switching the gain, in MY EARS, the high has more impact instead of the volume. After all I still prefer medium, more control, more refined, taken the Denon to the limit. Superb music fidelity.

My K701 with a Yamaha A1 with a Bass Extension ON and EQ Bass at max, sounds excellent, great soundstage, very good bass and a little bit harsh at the top. I still choose the Denon D7000.

Both are great, great records.
