    the return for new headphones

hi all. came here for headphone help a few years back and was very thankful for the advice and help narrowing my selection down. that selection wound up being the hifiman he400s. none of you could have been more correct about the sound. the problem wound up being durability. anyone who has...

    headphones for mixing

hi all,   im looking for a pair of headphones for mixing. it seems the most popular are the athm-50, beyerdynamic 770 and 880, and akg 271, the shure 840 and 940, and a handful of sennheisers.   i own the hifiman hd400s. i understand they are not a mixing headphone, but the quality is...

just wanted to say thank you (hifiman he400 related)

id definitely be inclined to do that, is giving them better damping a no lose situation or cant go wrong?. cause i do like these pads. its fun to cover up the outside of the things. or even listen to whats coming out of outside. basically would better damping have any adverse effects of any kind...

just wanted to say thank you (hifiman he400 related)

also worth mentioning, toms on older recordings are far more present, powerful, and more dominant just like a good remaster.

just wanted to say thank you (hifiman he400 related)

not sure if this is the appropriate forum, but i came here to try and find a consensus on a headphone choice. for my budget, the hifiman he400s were pretty much unanimously recommended. not sure i would have even come across them without coming here, even after pretty extensive searching.   ...

    wireless headphones under $300

hi folks. i wasnt 100% certain this was the right forum for this question, so forgive me if it isnt.    im in the market for a set of wireless headphones. the headphones will have one purpose. ill be putting a cd in the stereo in the living room, i will wear the headphones in the garage, and...

for hifiman he-400: e17, mstage, or lyr?

oh. see, this is an example of how little i know what im doing. assumed the asgard was all i needed. ive just purchased the m-stage as the consensus seemed to lead slightly that way. am i gonna need more?

for hifiman he-400: e17, mstage, or lyr?

thank you, that definitely helps. id seen a post of yours that mentioned four or so including the e17, but ill go with your judgment on the asgard as preferable. thanks again

for hifiman he-400: e17, mstage, or lyr?

hi all. trying to narrow this down. seen good reviews for all of the above. theres the price difference with the fiio e17 being cheaper. willing to go with that if the others arent noticeably better. thanks in advance.

budget headphone amp/setup for hifiman he-400

no plans. i mean i suppose i would in around a decade if the things were suffering. but not in the forseeable future. it had just been recommended to me that they would still benefit from an amp. their primary use will probably be to play music from a laptop though, and i have no idea about the...

budget headphone amp/setup for hifiman he-400

thanks. ive seen at least one other (i think more) say the matrix mstage worked great with them.    i am pretty certain ive just found these headphones for $139, new, with no catch. if that turns out to be the case, i may want to consider a more expensive amp.

budget headphone amp/setup for hifiman he-400

i promise ive read pretty much all that is here already on this forum :)   ive been sold on the he-400s. seems prudent if not somewhat necessary for an amp. ive exhausted myself in this search for headphones, and i do not want to do so with amps, something i have little knowledge of anyway...

    headphone help

will do, and thanks. the e17 gets rave reviews upon first glance and fits the price range, although there is some discrepancy between whether or not to pair it with the e9 desktop. any thoughts on this?

    headphone help

okay. it seems like i OUGHT to have an amp either way, even if the denons dont need one. so perhaps it might be prudent to go with the hifiman since theyre less expensive and seem to be the consensus in this thread. but for the record, im seeing the d5000s for $479. not a huge price difference...

    headphone help

it helped a great deal, thanks. just wanted to be clear, you are indeed saying the denons need an amp less than the hifiman or sennheisers, correct?    im also trying to figure out how much id need to spend on an amp. from what ive gathered for the sennheisers id need to spend a few hundred.

    headphone help

thank you all, very helpful. matttcg, ive read your review, and im pretty much sold. i had been curious about the denon ad5000s in comparison. everything i see says they pretty much get the best bass, but ive now read a few reviews that said it can come off as unnatural. i know theres no such...

    headphone help

hi all,   im aiming to spend around $400. i can be persuaded to spend a bit more, especially since i recently saw some higher end models closer to my price range.   my list has basically come down to:   sennheiser 650 hd, 600 hd, 598 hd, and pxc 450   akg 701, and k550  ...

    best headphones under $400

thank you all. i do intend to go test some, but there really arent a lot of great options around here. i will strongly consider these he 400s, another brand id recently become aware of but didnt know much about. two recommendations on a site like this are worth considering.

    best headphones under $400

ive no doubt this thread has been created a few thousand times, but i decided to cut to the chase and make my own.   ive been searching for headphones now for something over twenty hours, and i dont feel much closer to deciding. not sure how much longer i can go on. ive narrowed it down to i...
