I can only imagine what that sounded like. I tried to get just the super tweeters for my own setup. No such luck yet. They are either over priced or poor condition so far and anymore not necessary.- 336881

Nice to see Sony is trying to make a comeback. Looks like it will yet again be another Japan only item though. Hifido.jp could probably get a pair for you without the shipping ruining the deal. I still do not see these stacking up well against the ss-r10's and ss-gr1's. Those are 2 of the best...- 336881

Speakers are just fine bud. It's a Sony ES thread not a Sony headphone thread. Maybe if there were Sony ES headphones you would have a point but there are not any Sony ES headphones to my knowledge. You can shoot the messenger if you want but those speakers you gave as an example are a joke...- 336881

No Sony still makes ES products. But around 2010 Sony started branding allot of their products ES and the ES name lost allot of its pedigree. Sony also came out with allot of weird digital ES products around that time that did not make much sense. To me and allot of others the "good" ES products...- 336881

They are pretty easy to get still. Even in 120v. Be open minded to 100v and a whole new world opens up.- 336881

There was only a few true Espirit's in the 80's. I am lucky enough to own the 3 most rare ones. The TA-N902, SE-P900, and APM 4. I also have a Sony Reference DAS-R1 dac. I had a couple Sony ES cd players but do not currently own any ES components right now. The Espirit stuff crushes the ES stuff...- 336881

Innuos Statement - worth waiting for?
If you do not mind going 100v and yahoo.jp. you do not need more than that. Correct me if I'm wrong but $10k streamer + $10k cd player + $10k dac = $30k? That to me is allot to work with. Top end micro seiki record players start out at just a few thousand. Linn is not bad. As far as today goes...- 336881

A 727ii and woo ges will not drive an oo7. You will for sure max out the pot on quiet recordings. A used kgsshv or carbon is what you want for the 007. If you want something easier to drive a 404le with a octavev2 amp is much less expensive and 90% a 007/kgsshv.- 336881

Ha. Yeah a dave will get clobbered by that measurement. I looked up the Sony das-r10 and Luxman da-07 dac's. 4 times the weight of the dave and virtually the same measurements.- 336881

Well it probably did not hurt the Audio Note dac was playing through a pair of $16k retail speakers. It was the first tube dac I have ever listened to. Really impressed. The measurements are somewhat transferable to me but I know plenty who could not care less. They are all about the tube no...- 336881

Zero reason to apologize. The Technics amp needed repair not the Sony. Neither power amp was mass marketed. Really rare Japan only power amps from the 1980's. Purchased from the highest pedigree power amp seller in the world. My point was/is the power amp other then record players, and that is...- 336881

Oh please you know exactly why. Most of hifi is tubes and tubes do not measure well at all. My best dac experience was with an Audio Note dac recently. I don't think Audio Note even publishes their spec's and they do not need to because whatever they did sounds amazing.- 336881

You are more than welcome to your experience with power amps. Just do not be upset if people choose to believe the stereo tech. with 30+ years experience over the guy who owned 3 power amps.- 336881

I think there has been a miscommunication here. I was using the history of the odac not the odac per se. Back when the odac first came out NewWaveGuy claimed the odac was better than every other dac because it measures better. Caused quite the brew haha from what I remember. I guess I went back...- 336881

The DAVE is the new Odac. The measurements are only going to matter to those who care about measurements. What matters to me as much as measurements is the dac chip used and the chassis. I have 2 Phillips tda-1541-s1 chips and a chassis only cost no object Accuphase can compete with in my...- 336881

Just my 2 cents but yeah I would say you have been lucky with speaker amps. Speaker amps last a long time. Mine are as old as me. But for sure, other than record players maybe, they are #1 at my stereo tech's. Usually just a $50 fix every 3,000 hrs. Like getting your oil changed in your vehicle...- 336881

Here's the rub(s) though and imo. it is a big one(s). Power amps by far and away end up on the stereo tech's workbench way more than any other piece of gear. I own 2 power amps just for this reason. A technics se-a100 and sony ta-n902. The se-a100 has already been to the stereo tech twice. The...- 336881
