Looking for Beginner Commute IEM with Bass and Detail (CA Io, FiiO FA7, etc.?)

Hey, I don't find the FiiO FA7 to be very bassy, but it's still warm and very precise. It also responds well to EQ if you want more bass. Isolation in my experience is top notch and that's very important if you're going to use them on the train since you don't want the external noise ruining...

Note 10 and Fiio q1 Mk II

I think the Note 10 should be compatible with the Q1 Mark II. The FiiO CL06 cable is always a good addition because otherwise the Q1 Mark II can charge himself by discharging the android-phone's battery.

Need advice on replacing my beloved Takstar HI 2050's

I used to own a Hi-2050 in the past. Tons of value for the money. I suggest the AKG K712 PRO as its replacement. It's a more technical and refined headphone than the Fidelio variants and the rest of the headphones listed and it's also closer to Hi-2050 in terms of sound singature.

    AKG K812 Pro, underrated?

Give yourself more time with them, focus of bass clarity and layering. In my experience the SE-A1000 (although big sounding, warm and potentially fun) is nowhere near HD650 in terms of SQ. Let alone K812 or HD800, which by the way have a very different tuning than SE-A1000 and thus signature...

    Beyerdynamic T1 2nd Gen vs HD 800S

Yes, it's likely that they have been tweaking the sound across the years. More so keeping in mind that just a simple difference in the pads' material can make an important difference in the sound. The driver is not 100% the same, but very similar. T1 (1st Gen driver) T1 (2nd Gen driver)...

    Beyerdynamic T1 2nd Gen vs HD 800S

My T1 (2nd Gen) has a slightly brighter treble than my T1 (1st Gen)

    AKG K702 Impressions.

Lighter bass, slightly smoother treble and more ethereal sound (from my experience comparing two recent units of K701 & K702)

    New Beyerdynamic T1 (2nd Generation)

Hello, Keep in mind I can only speak for my T1.1 and my T1.2. You'll find multiple reports that suggest various silent revisions and/or significant variance among different units of the same model. My Beyerdynamic Tesla T1.1 is much more in line with an AKG K702 in terms of tuning, but more...

    New Beyerdynamic T1 (2nd Generation)

I own a T1.2 (s/n 34.9xx) and it's brighter (more energetic treble) than my T1.1 (s/n 16.8xx) As a curious anecdote, I've bought a pair of original T1.2 earpads once and got two different types of them instead of a proper matching pair (different density that produced a different sound so I...

    AKG K7xx vs k612 pro vs k712 vs dt990

K712 is brighter than K7XX and Fidelio X1 K701 is brighter than K712

    AKG K7xx vs k612 pro vs k712 vs dt990

Fidelio X1 has more of a cinema type of sound with big boosted bass and relatively soft sound everywhere else. It's not refined by any means but can be fun and easy to listen. K7XX should sit between the Fidelio X1 and the more neutral K712 PRO.

    AKG K7xx vs k612 pro vs k712 vs dt990

AKG K712 is a safe pick. More neutral and spacious than K7XX. More layered and not not as bright compared to DT990. K702 is lighter in the bass so not the best pick for the listed genres. Regards, Me x3

    Best headphones for classical music

Your preference is very important here. AKG K702's sound is lighter and more expansive while AKG K712's sound is more full bodied and relaxed in the upper midrange.

Tired of chasing. Wide soundstage with adequate bass and comfort

If you want something that's HD800/S -like for less money you should get the Beyerdynamic DT880 (600 Ohm). If you want something warmer / fuller sounding (but still neutralish overall - unlike those Fidelios) you should consider the AKG K712 PRO.

Yamaha HPH-200 (Pictures and review) [Updated]

If you have an equalizer, you can try to lower the mid-bass region between 70Hz and 200Hz. If I rememer correctly they respond quite well to EQ. - 4dB @ 125 Hz should help to make the mid-bass perceptively quicker and also bring more presence to the upper mids and treble. I guess something...

Fiio Q1 MkII not powerful enough for HE400i?

Balanced cables don't share the ground, so you have 4 poles in total. Once a set of cables is terminated with a single-ended connector (3.5mm or 6.3mm), the ground becomes shared and you have 3 poles in total. So you can't use a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter to make it balanced, because the ground is...

    Fiio q5

That's not very useful because if hiss is present in the recording itself instead of the setup, you won't find out. You should hear no hiss at all, unless it's on the recording. If there's hiss in the recording, you'll surely hear it with a resolving setup like FiiO M9+DT1990PRO
  19. Me x3

    Fiio q5

FiiO M9 won't hiss with DT1990 PRO. Keep in mind DT1990 will typically expose recording hiss much more than HD6XX. Headphones with very extended and slightly raised treble are much more prone to expose recording hiss. Make sure to test with recordings that you're a 100% certain they don't...

Fiio Q1 MkII not powerful enough for HE400i?

Yes, the balanced output on the Q1 Mark II is more powerful by an important margin. Keep in mind you need balanced cables for your HE400i in order to use the balanced output (not just a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter)

Fiio Q1 MkII not powerful enough for HE400i?

They need more power than M40x but not because they are planar magnetics. You'll find planar magnetics that need little power and planar magnetics that need quite a lot. Hifiman HE400i is relatively sensitive. Make sure to have the source at 100% volume and the FiiO Q1 Mark II in High Gain...

Need a new DAP (relaxed involving)

You can check the warmer FiiO X5 3rd Generation which has twin AKM AK4490 DACs (instead of ESS SABRE 32 ES9028PRO) and pick "Super Slow Roll Off" in the Lowpass Filter settings. What headphones are you using?

Next portable DAP after FiiO X3?

If I were you, I would strecht to/save for the FiiO M9. It has dual high-tier AKM AK4490 DACs, very nice amplification stage with both single-ended and balanced outputs. Best in class bluetooth connectivity (both transmission and reception). FiiO Link so you can control it remotely from...
