The Takstar, Technical Pro, Gemini Greathon, CyberX, Qpad Thread

BTR3K comes with a Type C to Type A USB cable, no adapter needed. BTR3K has a great synergy with Pro 82 v2, which is a rare thing to find - KA13 probably won't sound as good with Pro 82 v2. KA13 also doesn't support Bluetooth. Audio-GD NFB-11.28 is hard to beat... I have NFB-11.18, it sounds...

Yes, i use BTR3K over USB 3.0 on my laptop, works great. Don't forget you can use it over Bluetooth as well - so USB won't matter at all. K5 Pro ESS doesn't consume power over USB at all, has a dedicated power input. Not sure about KA13 - depends on your specific desktop. For a USB-A port on...

KA11 will drive any headphone with normal (>100dB) sensitivity, as long as it doesn't have high impedance (over 64Ohm). If you insist on planar headphones like Hifiman HE5XX or Takstar HF580, you'll need more power. The cheapest option is FIIO KA13 (on sale for 68$...

Absolutely not. The spec is completely fake: There is no chance it can drive 3.8 watts into 600 Ohm  They don't even know difference between "voltage" and "wattage".

Try connecting the dongle to one of the amplifiers I listed. Set Windows and application volume to 100% - this will make the dongle work in DAC mode. Control the volume on the amplifier.

No sound card will handle such headphone. You need watts, not volts. Every DAC can put out 2 volts RMS (it's the standard), even without an amplifier.

SMSL SH-6 at 187$ and SMSL SH-8S at 230$ will both drive 99.9% of headphones on the market: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004037125738.html https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006669959139.html

Better - maybe Good - no I would look into anything with at least 500mW into 32Ohm.

Absolutely not, it will sound bad. HD5XX has very low sensitivity - 93.5dB, so you need a proper amp, regardless of the low impedance. The lower the impedance, the more current will flow, and small amps are not a great source of current. Driving voltage is much easier than driving current.

    Earbuds Round-Up

I burned X3 for ~250 hours and listened just now for a few minutes. Initial impression - X3 is a great improvement over X6, and sounds fairly close to LBBS. I wouldn't be surprised if it's simply a renamed LBBS (with a horrible cable), to justify increasing the price - 90$ vs 48$.

Takstar Pro 82/GM200 Review, impressions and discussion thread

Here are (almost) all the coupons for the AliExpress sale: This list is missing the "8$ off 69$" or "8€ off 69€" coupon - code is the same as other coupon codes, but ends with "08". BTW, looks like outside of US and "others" the sale ends at different time - for example, in Europe at midnight...

Takstar Pro 82/GM200 Review, impressions and discussion thread

I have received it, but didn't get a chance to test it yet - all my Pro 82s are either in remote storage or in remote office - and I haven't visited either one in a while... However, I'm very confident that even if it won't have synergy, it will at least sound great anyway. Right now there is a...

You are about to be disappointed - X6 is nowhere near as good as LBBS. There are 3 last ones available for sale: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001464323686.html I bought 8 LBBS so far, so I can look with confidence into the future

You should get Yincrow X6 over Temperament X6 regardless of other earbuds - they sound better despite lower price.

    Earbuds Round-Up

You should buy Temperament LBBS - it's much better than both Temperament X6 and Yincrow X6. It's 48$, and there are last 5 units available on AliExpress (it's not made anymore): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001464323686.html

Takstar Pro 82/GM200 Review, impressions and discussion thread

So I ended up buying it last night - 75$ instead of 89$ thanks to coupons and discount codes. If it's using the exact same Chinese 12AU7 tube, the chance for synergy is really high. If not, I may need to tube roll. Either way, I'm sure it will be either best sounding or second best sounding...

I concur. It's not that RW3000 is a bad earbud, I just don't want to keep listening to it - too boring. I'd rater listen to Yincrow X6 over RW3000.

LBBS is a huge step up from Yincrow X6, while retaining the same character. Get it before it's sold out: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001464323686.html Make sure you don't buy the cheaper "Black with Mic" version - it's LBS, not LBBS.

I don't know if they are better than MX500 shells for bass tuning, just mentioned that the three tuning holes allow you to tune the bass by controlling the airflow. The main advantage of the bell shape is that it allows to wear them cable up while pointing the driver towards the ear canal, which...

I'd guess these should be great for bass tuning, as they have 3 tuning holes - allowing you to control bass by deciding how many you will keep open: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000273773541.html https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004437959495.html Don't forget to put some damping material...

Reality is even more extreme than my statement. Imagine that you not only face speakers to the wall, but you put the speakers right up the wall, allowing the sound to escape only using the narrow space between the speakers and the wall. That would produce a terrible sound. While I sometimes...

    Earbuds Round-Up

An important part of why LBBS outperforms is the bell-like shape. It allows to place the earbud playing directly into the ear canal, instead of facing the concha. Imagine placing speakers facing a wall instead of facing you - that's why earbuds with the classic shape underperform. Cost may not...

The Stax SR-L500 and SR-L700 Impressions Thread

If L700MK2 sounds the same as L700 - I would stay away. IMHO, L700 is warm/veiled sounding - tonality is too sweet, small soundstage, excellent bass. Boring sounding overall, would never guess in a blind test that this is an electrostatic headphone. Buy L500MK2, and L300 and L700 pads - L300...

    Earbuds Round-Up

I have FF3 and RW-3000, neither of them sounds as good as Temperament Little Black Bell S (LBBS). Do yourself a favor and buy it before it's completely sold out (it's no longer made) - at only 50$, it's the TOTL killer. Its supposed "improved" successor X6 is nowhere as good either. LBBS tops...
