Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
That is nice to hear, I will shoot them an e-mail, thanks. The issue is only with one channel and I found it to be the socket saver. I did the typical troubleshooting sequence. I first tried another set of tubes, still had the same issue in the same channel. I then swapped the socket savers...- BigTerminator

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
Has anyone encountered issues with Tubemonger's Socket Savers? I have one socket saver giving me issues, and yes, I troubleshooted the problem to be the socket saver and not the amp or the tubes. Basically, the channel being affected will start producing unwanted noise. It can be a "whoooshing"...- BigTerminator

DC Area Head-Fi Meet and End-of-Summer SchiitStorm! - August 12, 2017 - Gaithersburg, Maryland!
Apart from testing its DAC (which sounds like any other DAC I have owned) there is not much more you can do apart from showcasing its features such as pre-amp, software, I/O, etc. But as you just said, you are interested in one so I am sure others might be as well. We all love audio and there...- BigTerminator

DC Area Head-Fi Meet and End-of-Summer SchiitStorm! - August 12, 2017 - Gaithersburg, Maryland!
For sale? Never! As I said, it is a must have tool for any speaker system, though rereading my comment, I can see why you asked. I actually own two of these, one for my bedroom and one for my basement system. It has crazy features for very cheap, bust most of those features are unnecessary for...- BigTerminator

DIY Cable Gallery!!
Here is my first headphone cable. I used an Amphenol Jumbo TRS connector and Monoprice 18 AWG OFC speaker wire. I wasn't planning to do bare wire but my practice braid looked so good I decided to do a naked cable first. Next cable I will make will have some braiding and hopefully a Y splitter...- BigTerminator

M-Audio AV40 - still a good buy?
M-Audio AV40's for $150? That's a terrible deal. JBL LSR305's have been on sale for $200 and those will murder the AV40's and the more expensive BX5 D2's. I would get good quality speakers that way you can not be encumbered with wires and be much more comfortable for longer periods of time.- BigTerminator

DC-Area Head-Fi Meet - Saturday, February 27, 2016 -- Impressions Thread
I come from DT990's and Fidelio X2's which both have very good soundstage and these are very close if not on their levels. It won't have HD800 soundstage, but for a closed back I have to say the sound is not at all congested and does sound open and natural. I am not sure about the dot...- BigTerminator

DC-Area Head-Fi Meet - Saturday, February 27, 2016 -- Impressions Thread
I was not at the mini meet you guys just had, but I was at the original meet back in February and I gave my impressions, speaking highly of the Alpha Primes that @TimeLord brought. Well my brother wanted to ditch his 400S for my X2's so somehow I snatched a used pair of Alpha Primes for $600...- BigTerminator

2.0 Speakers Compilation: Best for <$500
I love my Emotiva's a lot. Maybe get the Airmotiv 6S if it will be a sizable room, and then later on get a subwoofer.- BigTerminator

2.0 Speakers Compilation: Best for <$500
All the Chord Mojo could do is act as a DAC, with volume control being done by windows. You do need a speakers amp, no headphone amp will do a speaker justice with appropriate amounts of power. I would just recommend getting powered speakers. What's your budget and how big is your room?- BigTerminator

DC-Area Head-Fi Meet - Saturday, February 27, 2016 -- Impressions Thread
Thanks everyone for the great meet. Seems to be getting busier every year. A lot of good sounding headphones but the Mr. Speakers Alpha Primes were a cut above the rest. Really kicking myself for not listening to the Ether C, so if anyone could offer up some comparisons between the two, that... -
DC-Area Head-Fi Meet - Saturday, February 27, 2016, 12:00 Noon-4:00 PM, George Mason Regional Library
Speak for yourself troll! As my eloquent brother pointed out, I will be bringing the Emotiva Stealth DC-1 and Phillips Fidelio X2's. But what he forgot to mention is that I will also bring the Yulong A800 headphone amp as well, so you can add that to the list. Should be a great meet!- BigTerminator

Emotiva Stealth DC-1 DAC
I had problems with the Emotiva drivers on Windows 10. Use the drivers from Schiit - https://schiit.com/drivers. They use the same USB chip so they are compatible.- BigTerminator

Alternatives to the Emotiva Stealth DC-1
My speaker system is very good, and my previous DAC was very good, so the DC-1 just had nothing really to improve upon. When using the DC-1, I really thought the only difference would be slightly better bass, and even that did not happen as I A/B'd. The DC-1 was noticeably better than the...- BigTerminator

Ghentaudio Cables - Impressions & Opinions. (First impressions & pictures in!)
I am interested in getting the same cable you got for your Fidelio X1's (D11) for my Fidelio X2's. I am concerned with how it fits onto the headphone, how snug the connection is, and if it adds serious weight to the headphone. I want a good quality cable that looks nice, and it seems to check... -

Philips Fidelio X2?!
You should be using low gain as these are easy to drive and will expose a high noise floor. They do not hiss on my Emotiva Stealth DC-1 which has shown noise with IEM's. The hiss itself isn't damaging, it is literally just noise coming from the amplifier. Any music will cover up the sound. Break...- BigTerminator

2.0 Speakers Compilation: Best for <$500
I have tested my Airmotiv 5S, they go down to 50hz, but after that it rolls off like a brick wall. You have a SVS SB1000 so you know the difference a sub adds. It is so much more than just a harder kick. If you are not used to a sub, then the speakers will seem like they have enough. Once you...- BigTerminator

2.0 Speakers Compilation: Best for <$500
Coming from my Airmotiv 5S, it is not really that they lack sub bass, but they lack all bass. Turning my subwoofer off, the speakers sound so cold, 2 dimensional, and just lifeless. With the sub on, the speakers shine through, especially that tweeter. But being at work, your coworkers probably...- BigTerminator

2.0 Speakers Compilation: Best for <$500
I would wait for the Airmotiv 5S to be back in stock. What improvement over the originals? The S denotes the newer line of monitors from Emotiva. Each monitor has an RCA and XLR input. I like the XLR to RCA cables better, but RCA to RCA would be fine. Shipping might be a lot so email or call...- BigTerminator

Question is why not. The Airmotiv line is amazing, and it is heavily discounted right now. You can always send them back if you end up not liking them. It would be better to get the Airmotiv 5S and pair it with a good quality subwoofer vs. the Airmotiv 6S.- BigTerminator
