Anyone tried the PaliPad (pads that come with the Susvara)? http://store.hifiman.com/index.php/palipad.html Was thinking of trying those or else Dekoni's new Elite Hybrids for Hifiman headphones.

I had the original nickel plated aluminum version of the TRUE. While the copper TRUE is much heavier, the IFX-14 is physically larger. Although being spaciously big and having the backside cooler, the IFX-14 didn't actually perform well. Even the regular TRUE outperformed it.

Right, but my thought was keeping your setup silent, as you had mentioned wanting fanless. Though I think some TEC use fans. But if that heatsink and undervolting are already getting you there, great!

Have you looked into thermal electric coolers?

If you think that heatsink is huge, check out this ol' beast. Thermalright IFX-14. Even has a part that takes heat from the back side of the CPU.

Well that's no fun. Do you intend to leave Vidar on at all times? I have both my headphone amp and powered monitors connected to my DAC/preamp and just leave the headphone amp off when using the monitors, and leave the monitors off when using my headphones and headphone amp.

+1 Why the need for the switch at all, though? If the user just wants a headphone output and a pre out to Vidar, Mjolnir cutting the pre out when headphones are plugged in is already providing all the switching they should need.
