I am currently using the Valhalla 2 as a preamp for my Bob Latino M125 monoblocks. Works great sounds great. If only it had a remote, but I rarely desire to adjust the volume, so getting up to do so is rare.

You may find the Schiit Jotunheim with a photo module in it to better suit your needs. It has volume control with xlr and rca outputs all in one box.

Follow the YouTube videos for the removal process, it is not hard, you just need patience. To connect to active monitors I suggest connecting the Mani to a preamp with balanced output. Good luck to you.

Most everyone is waiting for the Freya, me I'm still waiting for the Ragnarok 2 to come out with a remote. The Ragnarok is great for my office, but anywhere else I would love to have remote capabilities. Until then I'm always excited to see new Schiit.

Difference in height is under .5 inches. Don't even notice the difference. I notice more of a change if I move forward or back.

I have been looking, but it seems like there are almost no OTL balanced headphone amps on the market. A V3 would be unique, especially at Schiit prices.

Great read as usual. Thankful never had issues swithching the Rag between speaker/headphones/both by being smart in one aspect of life and turning the volume down first every time. No one wants to go deaf in this hobby.

17,000 hrs of life may seem absurd, but I thought that warm-up was the most wearing part of using a tube, much like engine warm-up is when most wear and tear is done. The fast change in temperature is the enemy. That being said, leaving tube amps on "all the time" seems to be a waste of energy...

I believe that it is Schiit policy not to make remarks on another companies products. Topology maybe.

I did get ebay socket savers and they introduced a lot of noise, but they were not too quality. I do however have my V2 raised; it is sitting on 4 large marbles which are sitting on 4 upturned rubber feet. I think it helps to add a little air circulation and it looks good too.

I usually keep mine on high gain, but you should try both. Just ensure that you turn the volume all the way down first, or your ears may not like the jump in volume.

I have an RP40, very similar to your new RP3, I keep all my gain at low now, but I did used to run it with the same settings that you are using. No problem running the Mani either way. It all comes down to what your ears prefer.

If car audio is so bad the I guess we should all just yank it out or the cars and save the weight. I might keep mine because I still like to listen to music even if it's not in a soundproof room.

That's about the case for me on the Rag, but I feed mine with an original modi with its 1.5v out.

Still waiting for a preamp from schiit, I hope it isn't any bigger than the Ragnarok. Seeing the Mimby puts a smile on my face until then even if I won't buy the Mimby. Someday I will get the Gumby though.

The Theta DACs out 4v onto SE. That may be the way to go if 4v is truly a must have.

The Rag has the same temp powering my Beyerdynamics DT990 at 600 ohm as it does when pushing my B&W 685 speakers. Hope the info helps.

I can't remember where on head-fi, but Jason earned against using the Ragnarok to power planar speakers. I believe he suggested Emotiva. My Rag powers B&W 685 S2 in the bedroom, and a set of monoblocks in the living room from Bob Latino.
