    HiFiMan Susvara

This is how I run my Susvara. I haven't tried any other amps, but it provides enough slam and all the detail I could ever want, while providing a not overly etched image.

Looking to sell my Sony XBA-Z5 IEMs with a Sony MUC-M12SM1 Headphone Cable. This was Sony's Flagship at one point, and the last of the old USB key form factor of the EX1000. Great condition, cable was purchased new by myself, everything works great. No original box, tips, carrying case, or...

    HiFiMan Susvara

It's rare, but back with the HD600 was king (some say still is!), some hardcore folks actually augmented their HD600 with a subwoofer. Yep, two channels to the HD600, with LFE out to a dedicated subwoofer. I truly believe that every single one of us in this thread is also that hardcore.

I think "high gain" is relative, and knowing the actual gain might help. I find my Ragnarok at 28db gain is a little too steely sounding, although the presentation is very interesting. I have it at 18db gain.

    HiFiMan Susvara

The ZMF Susvara Sheepskin pad is a near tonal copy of the stock pads with slightly more bass and slightly less withdrawn upper mids. I am obsessed with ZMF Auteur Solid Hybrid pads which basically correct every tonal balance issue you may notice.

I am afraid to try the stock cable - I love the Arctic Cable I had with my HE1000V2 (beautifully constructed) and it would really suck if it sounded worse than stock, hah. I wonder what the baseline is for the stock cable vs replacement cables.

Finally conjured up the nerve to cannibalize my nasty stock pads (but in fine condition as far as hifiman goes) for the mounting rings. Here's the Auteur solid hybrid pads all lined nicely. What a house of horrors the pads were under the cover, my goodness lol

Elevate Your Audeze Maxwell Experience with Dekoni Audio's New Premium Earpads

The sheepskin ones have a little more sub-bass and a little less mid-bass fog, while being pretty much the same elsewhere. Is that not better? The velour pads, uh, yeah, I am with you there lol. I do love this new graph format though!

    Schiit Ragnarok Amplifier

The whole "speaker taps adapter" thing is 100% legit and has been a thing in the HiFiMAN world for over a decade (except for when the HE-6SE became cheap - then all of a sudden Topping A90s were good enough). In fact, I had a setup like that for a while for all my balanced headphones. Just note...

    HiFiMan Susvara

This is the beauty of the aftermarket. HiFiMAN was historically awful for value retention (kinda like Breitling and IWC), but they do have the Susvara and original HE-6 that have held steady, and in the case of the HE-6, exceeds retail price (kinda like Rolex)!

Very cool. I would be interested to hear your thoughts on the Susvara vs Mod House Tunsten DS!

    Schiit Ragnarok Amplifier

I only notice it the moment I turn it off. More like "oh, it was humming a bit" as opposed to noticing it while it's running. Sometimes I even forget to turn it off. Definitely not audible when listening to anything.

    HiFiMan Susvara

Ah. And you got an open box 3.5mm back? As an aside, I don't know how possible it is to get a more efficient Susvara that performs similarly. Something about the gold on the drivers requiring a lot of juice to get going. If you swap out the gold with something easier to drive, it's not the same.

    HiFiMan Susvara

They're -2/+2 seconds a day out of the dealer, and of course need adjusting once a decade. As do all mechanical devices. Giving up on a Rolex like that is like giving up on a Susvara because it didn't sound good off your Topping A90! 😂😉

    HiFiMan Susvara

No, that's Hublot. Rolex is the farthest from bling, and the orthodynamic Technologies around planar magnetic headphones have been around for decades as well. It's just done really well here. If you want the biggest ripoffs in their respective genres, as per the initial claim, you'll need to...

Two of the three you mentioned are Richemont brands (yeesh!) and if the OP brought up a Calatrava you'd go on about Frederique Constant being a better buy. Awards for the company that invented the dive watch and has a watch in their catalog that reaches the lowest points on Earth is like...

    HiFiMan Susvara

What gain ratios or amounts do you all find to work well with Susvara? The Ragnarok 2 I am using (which is currently on sale for a bonkers price btw) is unique in that it has 2x/6db, 8x/18db, and 25x/28db balanced gain on the front end into about 12.5W at 60 ohms. Not specific to the Susvara...

In a world with Hublot and Jacob and Co., calling Rolex the biggest ripoff in the watch world is asinine. Saying an organization so integrated that it has its own foundry is the biggest ripoff in the watch world is asinine. Using Sinn, who won't even tell you what OEM it uses for its movements...

    Arctic Cables Discussion Thread

I believe I am using a Pallas with a CuTECH 4-pin connector and it's great, but I'm not much of a cable roller.
