i have reverted back to the original x1. sadly i've had too many issues with the second gen for me to use it as a primary dap for now. im passing it around to my friends to get their opinions. when the 2nd gen is as stable and feature similar to the old x1 ill switch back. 

I stopped using my second gen x1 for now. Too many issues. And i love the stacking kit for the original x1. Honestly anything you get amp wise will give you a good return. I've heard the x1 and a3 together and it's pretty alright. Jds labs has a budget cmoy too. It's very good. Good luck!

I use a JDS Labs C5D with my X1. I have both the original and the 2nd gen x1 . It's a wicked pair for a few reasons. The low and high gain is great for iems and full size planar alike. Using the X1 on line out opens the soundstage wiiiiiide. The three way bass boost makes any headphone sound...

I've been listening to mine for near a week and it's been great. Haven't picked up the original x1 since. Even with the few issues. FiiO has been great and responsive. I like it.
