Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I have this LP and it is an amazing recording. Not sure if it easy to find anymore.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Thank you for the tip. Will check it out. I have had very good experiences with Blue Jeans cables. Great build and I really can't fault the sound.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

This is the cable I need to get for the Pro-ject X8 to use it with the balanced input to the Skoll: https://www.audioadvice.com/pro-ject-connect-it-phono-5p-cc?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwYWBzMPugQMVo1VHAR0lHwr5EAQYAiABEgKXLvD_BwE Same cable would be used with all balanced Pro-jects. Pro-ject seems to...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

So glad you did this! My Pro-ject X8 TT has a true balanced wired tonearm and I am wanting to take advantage of it. Just need to get a moving coil cartridge and a Skoll. And the upgraded balanced cable that plugs into the tone arm. Need to butter up my wife first. Looks like there are...

    Schiit Kara - Impressions Thread

All good to know. Thank you. My Dad had a JL Audio Fathom F12 that broke a few months ago. The rubber surround on the driver broke and it was going to cost much more than a SB-3000 to repair it. He replaced the Fathom with a SB-3000 and I think he likes the SB-3000 better. He said he did not...

    Schiit Kara - Impressions Thread

Very helpful, thank youl! I am using Schiit Tyr mono blocks driving a pair of Magnepan 1.7i (Magnariser Ascension stands). I have an SVS SB-3000 sub. I am honestly very happy with the sound. However I do believe upgrading the Freya S preamp is the biggest potential for improvement. With...

    Schiit Kara - Impressions Thread

Does the extra drive in the low end and midrange of the Kara really improve the sound over the Freya S? Seems like it could potentially veer toward aggressiveness. I have thought about upgrading my Freya S to a Rogue RP5 or a Benchmark and the Kara is making me wonder if I can save some money...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Look forward to your impressions. I have been planning to upgrade my Freya S to a Benchmark or Serene. However, the Kara may be just what I am looking for. I would probably sell my Freya S and just by a Kara now if the Kara was in silver. My Yggdrasil and Tyrs are silver and would rather not...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

My Freya S is completely quiet in all modes. No hiss whatsoever.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Do not remember anything else other than he specifically mentioned Freya S and not the +. I am looking forward to hearing more from Jason when the time is right. For me the location of the power switch is such an issue that I either need to start leaving on the preamp 24/7 or get another...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I did hear Jason mention a potential upgrade to Freya S coming. I am interested. A very good preamp for the price but room for improvement. I do not mind a power switch on the back so much but the Freya S is deep in the back and very difficult to reach when in a rack. Just do what is done...

    Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone

Correct I have the non stealth purchased last November 2022.

    Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone

I had the Arya Stealth and the HE1000 V2 at the same time. I had the Arya first and it made me want to try the HE1000 at its new lower price. As soon as I heard the HE1000 I could tell it was a better headphone. It has a larger more open stage. Less grainy smoother while at the same time...

    Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone

I thought the stage on the HEKV2 non stealth was larger and better than the Arya Stealth. Have not heard the Arya V2.

    Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone

I wonder if the HE1000 V2 I purchased back in November may actually be stealth. I can say it is a significant improvement over the Arya Stealth.

    Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone

Some good posts here. To be clear I have the HE1000 V2 not the HE1000 V2 Stealth which is not yet available on Amazon from what I can tell. Before getting the HE1000 V2 you may want to wait until the Stealth comes out unless the regular HE1000 V2 get discounted even more. Still a great...

    Schiit Lyr+ : Impressions Thread

Not sure which tube would be the best for you to get but would try a good NOS tube. Try the Lyr 3 tube thread for some recommendations.

    Schiit Lyr+ : Impressions Thread

Upscale Audio Kevin's stash, cryo, Electro Harmonics. May eventually try more at some point. However, I am so satisfied with where it is at it may take some time before I am motivated to do so. Not sure if the Tung-sol will ever make it back into the amp.

    Schiit Lyr+ : Impressions Thread

I have noticed that Schiit amps I have tried tend to be closer to the stage than other amps. Whether or not that is a good thing is really a personal preference. I like headphones that sound open and especially with a large dimensional stage. The HD800S have an enormous soundstage and IMO a...

    Schiit Lyr+ : Impressions Thread

Honestly preamp matching is not as easily as it would seem in my experience. I am glad that my Lyr+ has had no issues. Operates just as it should and pulls me from critical to emotional listening faster than all the amps I have tried. Now that it has a tube I like, I have no desire to upgrade...

    Schiit Lyr+ : Impressions Thread

I would normally just put the money into a more expensive and hopefully better amp. However if it is working for you, it does make sense and it is all that matters. One thing nice about a stepped attenuator is that it minimizes a volume knob's degradation to the signal. Wonder what it would...

    Schiit Lyr+ : Impressions Thread

Why would you buy or keep a Lyr+ when you have the almost double the price Burson Soloist? An integrated amp as a preamp for an integrated amp? By the way I have had many Grado headphones for decades including X series. While Grados still have their niche for me, the planars that I recently...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

X2 is an excellent rig IMO. In my home office I have a Pro-ject "The Classic" which I believe has the same tonearm as yours. I am hoping that Pro-ject will offer an upgrade kit to put the new balance wiring in the tonearm. If not no worries as it sounds very good as is.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Jason, Newer Pro-ject turntables from like $1k and up now have their tone arms wired balanced. I recently got a Pro-ject X8 and I love it. I can upgrade the cable from the SE that was in the box to this balanced cable: https://pro-jectusa.com/product/connect-it-5p-cc-xlr-neutrik-1-23m/ The...

    Schiit Lyr+ : Impressions Thread

I concur that the Tung Sol tube leans to the dry side and even harsh compared to other tubes. Relatively speaking as the amp is not harsh. I bought a Kevin's Stash cryo EH tube from Upscale Audio and it is much better than the Tung Sol IMO. It was immediately obvious EH the sound was more...
