Did you try pressing the large "input" knob on the left side of the unit? It dims the display down 3 levels (1 level per press) and on the 4th press turns it off too

Yeah I agree too, mine is getting old and the screen is starting to get a bit weird too. But I can see the settings relatively clearly still, so will just live with it.. $1000... no no.

I never found the 2.5mm version lacking in power ever. My volume levels never go above 30-40%. I am using a 2.5 mm to 4.4 mm adapter for all of my headphones. I am using one of these on my 2.5mm version of the iDSD Pro, works great https://drop.com/buy/ddhifi-dj44-4-4mm-adapters

I agree with the earpad plan. I installed the sheepskin leather earpads on my 501s and it really turned the bass up significantly (as well as comfort) I got the Dekoni pads from Massdrop here - https://www.massdrop.com/buy/45999
