FiiO Mont Blanc/E12 portable headphone amp, 880mW, slim design, full metal case. Bass boost and Cross feed!

By slow - I mean it takes longer than I'd like to start streaming a track or to search music. This is definitely a processing issue and not net speed.

FiiO Mont Blanc/E12 portable headphone amp, 880mW, slim design, full metal case. Bass boost and Cross feed!

Can anyone suggest a modern phone/tablet that will work with the e12 (ie analogue line out)? I'll be using it to stream music as well as play from memory. I've been using my ipod touch 4G its processor is slow by modern standards. Failing that - are there any modern DAPs than are compatible...

Feeding a Rega DAC with a portable player

I've searched but can't find anything on this.   My system: *source* > Rega DAC > Ben Duncan Phones01 > Markl D7000   Feeding the DAC from my CDP or even xbox everything sounds great. However, I'm wondering if there is any portable player with an output that I can run into the DAC.  ...

iPod Touch 4th gen as a source?

My wife has an iTouch 4g and I've tried the LOD into my portable amp and triple-fis.   Pro: - Bass is tight with great exension - Bass, mids and highs well balanced - Good instrument separation   Con: - At first you think it's very detailed, but after repeated listening, detail...

i need an mp3 player that looks like a cd player or cassette player

A lot of Sony D-NE and D-EJ walkmen can read MP3 CDs and also have their own proprietory compression called ATRAC. You can still get them quite cheaply on amazon (avoid private sellers asking silly money). I have a D-EJ 985 and use mine quite a lot for CDs I can't be bothered to convert.  ...

    Modern pmp with "proper" line-out

I've searched and found no up-to-date conclusive information on this.   My Kit: Rio Karma (stolen) > custom portable amp > triple-fi   My Rio was an excellent player, but since I got pick-pocketed in London, I'm in need of a replacement. I'm looking for a player with a proper line-out...

    High end iem advice please

I'm placing to get a new set of custom iems or maybe a top end set of universals. I'm looking for something with great top end extension, like the er4s and deep tight controlled bass, again with lots of extension. PRAT is important too. The triple.fi, driven right, has the sort of bass I like...

android vs. iphone for sound quailty?

My experience:   iTouch 4g  (jack): Just about listenable, but on a "premium" product I was expecting much better. Archos 43 Internet Tablet (jack): Better than the iTouch, but breaks up if you use EQ and pump the bass to much. Surprisingly good treble extension.   iTouch (line out)...

A van driver having little respect for most drivers, I can't believe it!   (just kidding - I drive a van for work too)   Quote:

Search goes on: Bass heavy BA-type iems - heard a lot, still not confident

Well, you've got me stumped  Maybe try the monster turbine pro range.   edit: They're not BA, but the sound sig may be more your thing

Search goes on: Bass heavy BA-type iems - heard a lot, still not confident

Have you tried the triple.fi with foam earpieces? Moving from the silicone pieces to foam reduces the highs, for me anyway.   Quote:

    Driving with Headphones

I've experimented driving with my iems in, and actually found myself consciously checking my side windows and mirrors more frequently.   NB I drive a bank vault on wheels (Merc) which is pretty well sound isolated. _Possibly_ for motorway (high speed) driving, having iems with the sound at...

Search goes on: Bass heavy BA-type iems - heard a lot, still not confident

I have a feeling your source equipment may be making it hard to find the sound you want. I have found no consumer iem that matches the triple-fi for the combination of bass presence, extension and timing. The real evidence of this is in the bass SLAM (hopefully you know what I mean), that is...

    Matrix M-Stage Observations

Thanks for the tip, have been thinking about swapping the opamp on the M-Stage and this has given me more motivation to do so. It will be interesting to see if the K701 still sounds good after the swap.

    Matrix M-Stage Observations

I decided to buy the M Stage in the hope it would adequately drive my k701, on the basis "if it doesn't work out, if havent spent much money." However I found the results to be quite interesting. I thought I would say what I found with my different phones, as it appears a partner for the M Stage...

Bass IMPACT!!!!!! Thats all I ever asked for in life :(

I'm going to mention UE Triple.fi 10, through a good amp. Through my phones01, the bass goes low, rock solid and lightning fast. Bass doesn't overwhelm the music but has masses if impact.   I find many "bass heavy" iems/cans to be slow and sloppy, not so the tf10 :)

Anyone tried k701 and Matrix M-Stage?

Still searching for the ideal amp for my k701. Recently tried the Chordette Toucan - great (really great) sound but couldn't drive the k701 loud enough!   Anyways, would love to know what people think of the M-Stage and k701. I like the idea of the gain controls, as I have a selection of...

Inspire me - post your K701 rig!

Been running Rega Planet > Ben Duncan Phones01 > HD580J for nearly 15 years, but recently took the plunge on the K701.   Whilst the Phones01 synergises great with the HD580J, the K701 sounds a bit hollow, coloured and bass light. However my gut feeling is the K701 is capable of more (just...

    Any Ben Duncan Phones-01 owners?

Anyone else here with this apparently little-known amp?   http://www.britishaudio.co.uk/PHO1FLY.html   Driving my HD580 Jubilees, I have found it comprehensively better then the Naim Headline and V-Cans (would love to hear the X-Can v8p though). Fast, detailed, great soundstage and...

When have you arrived in headphone Nirvana?

For me nirvana was reached in the mid-90's when I got my HD580 Jubilees and Phones-01 amp. I think my HF hearing may have dropped off a bit with age, because now I'm moving towards my k701s and er4s, but the HD580Js still do most things very well, and have great synergy with the Phones-01.

    HD650 vs HD600 vs K702 vs....triple fi 10?

I have an HD600, K701 and TF10 so perhaps I can offer some insight.   I would class the TF10 as fast, bass-heavy with slightly rolled-of treble (but not nearly as bad as many phones). It offers a full-bodied sound and copes well with complex music. My only gripes are that small bit of...

    HD800 - am I missing something?

Interesting to note the apparently high level of amplification needed to get the most out of the HD800s. Not a great surprise though as the best relative level of expenditure hifi always seems to be source > amp > speaker (or phones)   Unfortunately I don't know of anywhere in the UK where I...

New SR325is's are on the way!

If you're a Grado man you'll love the 325is imo. They're my favorite over even the rs1 and rs2 (not listened to their uber-cans).   Great bass extension and perceived detail and, most importently, make just about everything sound fun. Maybe because my cd player and amp are a bit "warm" I...

    HD800 - am I missing something?

I was fired up, ready to drop more than a few pennies on an HD800 and amplification so I trialled a pair with Naim CDS3 and XPS2 through a Headline with Supercap and...   meh   Sibilant highs to my ears and slightly overblown base. Yes they sounded good but I preferred my ER4S. After all...

    Worst Phones You've Ever Used?

Sony "Fontopia" canalphones. I think the model was SR71. Eurgh, yuk and indeed barf.   Emaciated tinny treble with a distant booming sound that is supposed to be bass.   OK, I've heard some utter rubbish coming from packaged earbuds, but they were FREE! You can get a pair of decent...
