AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE
I've read people buying the Oor for their susvara thinking it would unlock the bass only for them to be disappointed, while other's claim the opposite. I know you're talking about the DD HP. However I do find it interesting that one amp with more than enough power can't produce what another amp...- Tachyon88

AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE
Not offended, but I did exactly that and bass never presented as not controlled, but, clean, tight and punchy. Which makes sense because the A90 can supply more current than the susvara ever use on medium gain with EQ. On the DD side of things the HD800s never left low gain with EQ. Plenty of...- Tachyon88

AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE
You don't need a power amp because there are plenty head amps that can drive that load with EQ. I agree with him that the bass is good especially with HT eq. I've saved more edm and metal songs listening to that HP than anything else. That layered sound stage doesn't hurt either.- Tachyon88

I eq my HD800s to HT and I don't think the sound stage goes anywhere. I think the biggest contributing factors is the physical design.- Tachyon88

Who equalizes their High-end Audio systems? And why or why not?
Maybe with the stock FR because of the dips in the FR most likely contributing to higher perceived bass presents. However when EQ'd to HT I preferred the bass on the HD800S more because it felt like it was pressurizing that large cup more so than the smaller cup of the TH900. Being closed back I...- Tachyon88

Who equalizes their High-end Audio systems? And why or why not?
Not all people are effected by treble peaks. Just like not all are bothered by the Treble peak in th900 or HD800/s. The entire reason the S version came out was to address that sharp treble. The bass becomes more authoritative and no treble peak with EQ. Some think the arya is peaky too, but...- Tachyon88

Who equalizes their High-end Audio systems? And why or why not?
Then I wouldn't own one of my favorite HP, the HD800S. This is why knowing how well the driver performs and having a reasonable starting FR is important and opens up many more possibilities.- Tachyon88

Who equalizes their High-end Audio systems? And why or why not?
If you look into head phone and speaker design there is a trade off for everything. So it really depends on the manufactures goals of what they're trying to accomplish. These are the physical limitations. EQ makes up for these physical limitations. Only manufacture that seems to got around this...- Tachyon88

Who equalizes their High-end Audio systems? And why or why not?
Nothing, but it can always be better. And that is the only way around physical limitations for deficient bass and peaky treble. I eq all mine to the same target and they all sound different and keep their unique traits.- Tachyon88

I never block out of principle. I understand your position, and have no problem with contrarian anything. In my opinion it seems like its constant nitpicking about everything, some people are just like this. Contrarian for the sake of it.. I noticed the FOMO too and realized that people justify...- Tachyon88

Yes. Doesn't take a lot of money either to set up a good 2 ch. Assuming the room isn't a lost cause for treatment. Speakers can do things that HP simply can't. A neutral headphone will sound like a well setup speaker tonality wise. Everything else the speaker destroys in comparison, in a good...- Tachyon88
