Really quick initial impressions... Airy, detailed without being fatiguing, bass is deep but not overpowering. I would definitely agree that they are a bit recessed in the mids. Or, it could be that they just don’t have that mid bass hump that I associate with forward mids. I need to get used...

I’m glad someone else brought up that video. Around 10 seconds into the video, I realised it was some sort of wanky marketing video that makes zero sense to anyone actually interested into the headphones. I was expecting/hoping something like the MDR-Z1R video from Sony.

Snap! Focal Elear for me. Very unnatural sound. Didn't like them at all. Thought I was crazy for not liking them. Glad others don't like them either. They were touted as game changing!

I've done the coin hole mod, removed the rear spider and foam and added dampening. Lovely pair of headphones! Should have some impressions this evening.

Mine have been delivered! Can't wait to get home and try them out. Will be using them with my iPhone tonight and my La Figaro OTL. Be interesting to see how the sound differs. I have a Dragonfly Red coming tomorrow. I will report back with my findings. I'll be comparing against my modded HD650.

Pretty similar to my experience with these at CanJam London. I found them to sound unnatural. I couldn't figure out why though. Was almost too dynamic. Midrange sounded odd. I would like to try them again so I can pinpoint what I didn't like about them. It was an odd listen.

To be honest, I don't mind a little mid bass bump, but the HD650 can sound a bit too thick at times. Thanks.

Hopefully I'll receive my Z1R soon enough (ordered through Amazon on the 5th). While I'm waiting I'm quite happy listening to my modded HD650 and La Figaro 332S OTL amp. I love the sound of this combo, but at times the mid bass can be too muffled/loose. Also at times I'd like some more clarity...

So, it's either the Jot or the Elise for me and my HD650. Anyone tried both and can comment on their sound signature?

Just performed the coin mod on my 650s. Slight increase in clarity and treble, which has just made it an absolute winner for me. Always loved the 650s but hankered after some more clarity from time to time. This has done just that! I won't bother with any other mods, as I worry it'll take me too...

Couldn't tell the difference between my Mojo and DacMagic 100. Maybe we don't have 'golden ears'.

This is a definite purchase for me in the future (when I visit the US). No way I'm shelling out for this at the UK prices.

I'm torn... These Ether C headphones or the new ATC SCM11 speakers will be my next purchase. Just don't know which it will be! I love speakers but I very rarely have the opportunity to listen to them, and when I do I can't crank them as often as I'd like to ( neighbours, wife etc). I've owned...

I bought them used, so they should have burned in. I'm just chalking it down to me not liking the sound signature of Fostex more than anything.

Well, after only about 10 minutes of listening I know that the TH-X00 are not for me. Compared to my X2 there is no contest, for me at least. The X2 sound more natural and even across the band to me, which I know they are not, it's just that the TH-X00 sound so artificial. The bass is too lumpy...
