    Grado PS500 question

Has anyone ever seen round thing where the cables join on the PS500? I've never seen anything like it, and was puzzled. It terminates in what sure looks like an original Grado plug (with the word "GRADO" on it etc.) and the cable feels like the familiar original Grado cable. \

    ER4p...iPhone case?

So, the ER4p jack is a pretty hefty beast. My iPhone case apparently occludes too much of the space around the headphone in. ER4 users, what case do you suggest for an iPhone 5s?

    ESW10JPN replacement head cushion?

Hey,   I see that a few people on eBay are selling replacement headband cushions for ESW9 and ESW10JPN. Anyone have experience with them? Or is there an official replacement part? I can't find one on the AT website. Thanks.

Recommendations for portable amps for mobile phone: interference/static noise and shielding

Hi,   I'm in the market for a portable amp, but one of the things I've found annoying about them is the fact that wifi/3G/4G causes annoying static noises if they're not shielded properly, etc. So, I'd like to know of you positive experiences with slim, very portable amps that don't have this...

Watches - another passion of ours, it seems...post your pics!

This is interesting. I think I tend to believe that there's a sweet spot that'll appeal to the interested layperson looking beyond a beginner unit. So, when someone asks for headphones recommendations, I tend to go for Grado SR60/80 (< $100) or a used Sennheiser HD25 (< $150). [The Grado...

    Audiofly AF120 v. AF78?

Has anyone tried *both*? The price difference is small, but I was wondering if there's any reason to save just a few dollars and go for the AF78.

Watches - another passion of ours, it seems...post your pics!

Thanks for the tips so far. I guess if a Parker 51 is a great under-$100 deal, then I'd say a good budget watch deal would be under $1000? (Or, better yet, under $500).

Watches - another passion of ours, it seems...post your pics!

I knew there'd be a Watch-Fi... OK, so I thought to myself this morning: I wonder what the Parker 51 of vintage watches would be? That is, what's a good, easy-to-find, budget vintage watch that is just generally awesome and practical. Any thoughts?

What happens when one plugs computer speakers into the headphone port of an integrated amp?

Someone asked me this the other day, and I had no idea. I don't suppose the built-in amp in the speakers get by-passed, so is there just redundancy? Will the speakers get over-powered and, thus, wrecked in some way?

Has anyone here ever seen or heard of an HD25 cable with an inline mic? Is this possible?

Just moved to the UK. Who does re-cabling here?

I'm going to bump this.   Surely someone in the UK or EU offers a recabling service that isn't  £240 at AmpCity.

I've been gone for a while; catch me up on DAC/amp setups for an iPhone in the office?

Alas, the camera connexion kit trick didn't work. Insufficient power. <sadface>.

That might be a bit more high end than I need for a portable rig...

I've been gone for a while; catch me up on DAC/amp setups for an iPhone in the office?

I've spent the last year or so finishing of my thesis, and now it's good to be back (and at a real job!).   So, I'm thinking of using my iPhone 4S (and iPad 2) as my sources at work, mainly listening through a Grado RS1. I'd like to know what's available these days in terms of DAC/amp...

In particular, I'd like to get my Beyerdynamic DT1350 recabled. Any takers? :)

Need soldering tips on Pailiccs 3.5mm connector

So, is the shield that bit closest to the 3.5m plug itself, that thicker than the other two?

Need soldering tips on Pailiccs 3.5mm connector

I'm about to reterminate using these plugs too. But I'm told headphone cabled have 3 wires. Where do I solder each wire to? Which of the two small gold bits shown in the photo are L and R? And where does the ground go?

Etymotic HF3 and iPhone 3G and Macbook?

I've got a question about Etys new mic-ed IEMS. So, it seems that the HF3 is designed for the 3GS and iPhone 4...but do the controls and mic work for 3G? Does the mic work for Macbooks?

Anyone ever tried dying HD414 pads with Noodler's Black ink?

None of these answer my question. Read again: it's specifically about Noodler's black ink.

Sarah Nemtanu, Armand Amar, Budapest Symphony Orchestra performance of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in "The Concert"

Has anyone heard this outside of the context of the film? I was really impressed while in the cinema, but I don't know how it compares to (say) Heifetz off a CD, etc. Thoughts?

Anyone ever tried dying HD414 pads with Noodler's Black ink?

I might be about to, and was wondering if it's waterproof if I dilute the ink and apply it to the foam.
