Focal Clear Mg Review & Measurements

I want to know if they clip at higher volume and bassy songs like the originals...

    PRE-ORDER: Focal Clear MG Professional

Best track to test is Daft Punk - Get Lucky. Clips at moderate, to moderate-high volume in my case. Regardless of what Focal said, this is inexcusable defect in what is a $1.5K headphone.

    PRE-ORDER: Focal Clear MG Professional

Funny how none of the dozens of headphones I've owned in my 20+ years in this hobby have not had such severe mechanical clipping as the Clears. I can get my HD600 so loud as to not stand them on my ears but they never clip. The Clears, however, pop and creak like hell... The problem is...

    PRE-ORDER: Focal Clear MG Professional

I said higher, not high. As in high-ish and depending on the track. Hope this is resolved with the new all-Be driver...

    Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

From the latest 3.2 firmware: I think this resulted in a bug on my unit where when I turn it off it goes to the blue battery loading animation immediately after the goodbie screen! I need to keep holding the shut off button for another 10 seconds until the unit finally turns off. If unnoticed...

    Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

And ain't that a problem of all Chinese portable players... For the record, my unit experiences the occassional volume shifts, mutes, song restarts and adding to favourites. Also, after charging it seems the clock get screwed and often shifts by many minutes or even hours

    Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

A screen prompt (touch) asking if you indeed want to turn on/off the unit would be nice, similar to how it is on the iphone. I suggested this before.

    Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

Just 30 min ago, while sitting in my pocket, the player skipped a track, added the next one as a Favourite and changed the play mode from List All to Shuffle. I went back to the original track and this time it played fine, so the problem is not in the file. .. What???

    Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

My unit behaves erratically sometimes - spontaneous decreases of volume to zero or very low level, jumps to the beginning/middle/end of tracks, skipping or rewind to the start of tracks, spontaneous additions of tracks to favourites (even if I tried to do this myself it can be challenging...

    Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

How about a screen prompt (touch) for turning off the player? I turned it off many times due to accidentally pressing the scroll wheel for a few seconds (e.g. player in my jeans pocket while I'm crouching tying my shoe laces, etc.) :)

    Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

Bought red today, works like a charm! Happy to report it handles multiple .cue sheets in folder view as expected. One suggestion - in the System menu, rename Update to Update Library to avoid confusion with System Update

    Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

Still waiting for answer on this... My collection includes some 500+ CD rips in EAC that are created as single image file + .cue sheet. If the M0 doesn't handle this properly it will be major deal breaker for me

    Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

How does the M0 handle .cue sheets in folder browsing? Do the music file and the .cue file need to have the same names? Do individual tracks show? Also, what if there are more than one .cue file in the folder?

The FiiO X3 2nd gen (ex X3K, X3II) Thread : 192K/24B, CS4398,Native DSD, USB DAC with LO and inline remote

I'd pick the older X3ii over the new model due to more output power and the bigger battery. The only advantage the new model has IMO is the balanced jack, if you're into that.

The FiiO X3 2nd gen (ex X3K, X3II) Thread : 192K/24B, CS4398,Native DSD, USB DAC with LO and inline remote

Fiio advised to flash back with the older firmware, 1.6, and that actually did the trick :D Then I updated again to 2.0 and it works fine again now

The FiiO X3 2nd gen (ex X3K, X3II) Thread : 192K/24B, CS4398,Native DSD, USB DAC with LO and inline remote

My X3ii seems to have died today, after 2.5 years of service. In the middle of switching from one song to another, the player froze. Upon reboot, only half of the memory card contents were recognized. After a couple more reboots, the card was not recognized at all. Then all the menus started...

    Xiaomi Piston 3 (2015)

Any numbers left out there are probably counterfeits. I went for 1More - Voice of China (bought from iBuygou), which should be quite similar to Piston 3. Let's see if it can live up to its legacy.

    Xiaomi Piston 3 (2015)

According to theheadphonelist, it is 4.5mm but I think it's slightly smaller, like 3.5-4mm. SpinFit CP100 fit, IIRC. I use mine with the gray double flanges from EarSonics so they stay steady in my ears (I can jog) and sound great.

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

My unit is missing the bottom position markings of the front panel switches, and the switches themselves are not aligned well. Some quality control issues there, didn't expect it too but can live with it.
