I have a pair of Monks Plus and Qian 39. Are there good reasons to buy Lite, Coffee version? Are there any budget earbuds to try and very generous foam pack?
The Monk lite and the Qian 39 have the same housing so will fit the same. I have not had time to compare the sound of my Monk Lite 40 ohm with my Qian 39.

The lite versions are physically smaller in size so the fit would be different. So if you have any fitment issues with the plus you can try the lite. Personally I find wearing earbuds perpendicular to my ears works much better and sounds better so the size isn't as important to me. In fact I never found any bud I could stand for more than a few minutes until someone suggested the odd but very useful way to wear them.
Here's a discussion of what I'm trying to describe and a post with a picture. The prior posts also talk about wearing them this odd way.
Just got my second pair today from the massdrop. Pretty ridiculous how well these sound. Really good mojo with Cayin N5. Rocking them with blues and ear hooks.

That way sounds really good esp in the low end. Its actually they way your supposed to wear the MRICE E100A Bells. Those things just absolutely kill but unfortunately for me and my ears its extremely painful.

Silver Plated Copper to answer your question. In theory the plating of silver over the copper would keep the copper from tarnishing. Tarnish, that is metallic tarnish, is usually in the form of an oxide. Oxides are used to make ceramic insulators. Which means that its a material that does not conduct electricity. So if you have a copper wire that is 50% tarnish you have a wire that's only 50% as good as an untarnished version of the same wire. Next because of the physics of electricity high frequencies travel along the outside of a wire. So if you have a SPC cable you have silver which is a nominally better conductor of electricity carrying the high frequencies.
In practice the silver which costs more than copper is so thin it quickly becomes all tarnish and it is so thin that the copper underneath will still tarnish. However also in practice the idea of making a better cable may result in a better quality (purer) copper may be used or a thicker core be used so that the SPC cable can be a better conductor and provides a different sound.
Well I don't wear them exactly like that last picture but wear them with the wire up over my ear. But the important thing is that they're facing forward versus into my ear. And that picture so explicitly shows the way the bud is facing.
I picked up the Monk plus a few months ago. Holy moly!!! Incredible phones for $7. They're not just good phones for the price, they're good!! Very large soundstage, the bass is surprisingly deep for earbuds and they sound very natural. I love them!

I bought a dozen or so of the monk pluses and give them away to friends and acquaintances who listen to music on t heir phones to show them what's possible in that form factor
Unfortunately these days, most people have those dang iphones or phones with no headphone jack
I usually slip in those over ear silicon hooks I got from Ali in a giant bag as an option in case they fall out since they are buds
The new monk plus resealable packaging is a big help
naked zens/zen lites connected to the runabout or littlebear is my favorite portable rig for the office or home
lately I've been hauling 20 IEMs in a tool bag to work everyday so I can compare them against each other and decide what I want to keep
the new ZOEs or Zen Omega's will give me allot of flexibility at Mr Lee starts coming up with new an better unbalances and balanced cable setup
I do need a better source, as I'm using a plenueD, iPod 5th Gen and Fiio X3 gen2 for now
While I am waiting on the the Kickstarter HiBy 3 and Mass Drop Hidiz AP60pro to be made I ordered the Bengie T10 from Penon
On AliX I tried to get a Xuein iHiFi780 but it was out of production and the new Shanling M0 which was cancelled because they now have a US distributor
the monkpluses with my LG V30 are my go to option while waiting for meetings or doctor/dentist appointments as I just keep them in a small velvet bag and slide it in my pants pocket and I have no worries decent sounds anywhere and I can still hear when my name is called
