Pros: very good match for low impedance japanese headphone or even HD800
Cons: more power is needed if driving magnetic planar headphone
The Luxman  P-200 is one of the best headphone amp around the world, Its high-power output circuit consists of pure class A with 2 watts/8 ohms achieved by the parallel push-pull configured power transistor is embedded in the compact chassis of as small as B4 size. You can enjoy the world of direct listening that can be created only by Luxman, famous in its Dynamism, Delicacy, and Richness. The 2 headphone terminals are for stereo mini plug as well as standard type output that allows you to directly connect to your normal hifi headphone or small in-ear monitor earphones to play with high sound quality. The throughout output also provides possibility to connect with other hi-end hi-fi devices.

If you're looking for an amplifier that not only sounds superb but is constructed as exquisitely as a fine Patek Philippe watch, you are looking at thr right thing. Luxman's emphasis is on reproducing natural music, with lots of warmth, detail; not frightening it into scaring up non-existent detail, which is sometimes described as etched. Luxman's engineer's are fanatical in their attention to detail; while they spend a lot of time analyzing how components perform on their test equipment, the final arbiter is the listening evaluations. Is the product able to play music, convey the emotion, reproduce the ambience of the venue as well as the timbre of each instrument, distinctly. This is where Luxman shines.

Luxman have long championed the use of Class A power for its richness of timbre and absence of listening fatigue.
Because the transistors in a Pure Class-A amplifier are never switched off, there is obviously no crossover distortion (there is no crossover - where one transistor turns off, and the other supplies the load current). Notice the uninterrupted curve above on the right. The amplifier is always fully charged and ready to allow the music flow spontaneously, with a dynamic, fast response time, the music is rich & sweet.

If there’s a conclusion to be made here it is simply that the Luxman P-200 will not interfere with your music. It will neither paint it with an artificial tube glow, nor will it chill it with a solid-state glare. It will not mask it, make it better or worse. But with great recordings, it has an amazing ability to reveal more of what’s there. And for me, that’s just what the doctor ordered.

I remember someone who had auditioned a P-200 with an HD 800 saying that they liked the combination. But there was little other information available. This thread here seems to have the most information on the P-200 that I have found on the Internet. Your review is one of the most helpful. From what I have read the P-200 is very well constructed and built to last. Also that its Class A bias gives it a non fatiguing sound that is very useful in offsetting the brightness of digital music files.

I personally quite like the combination with HD800, however, since HD800 is a very bright headphone unlike the HD800S the P200 dosent tame the HD800 perfectly like its bigger brother the P1u, and true until these days I think the P1u is still the best match for HD800 from any japanese audio brand.
However, for nearly half the price of P1u, the P200 is a very high price performance alternative, the only cons is teh P200 takes very long for it to start up.
My P200 takes around 15-20second to power on recently.

Pros: in my humble opinion, when it comes to trible, muramasa's silky smooth treble is one of the best if not the best in the world
Cons: little sound stage compare to other open back headphone like the HD800/ 850g is too damn heavy for a headphone / high price tag
For sound quality i will rate it very good compare to my other high-end headphones like my SR009/R10/L3000/K1000/HD800/TH900 etc. But lets just be clear on this that the MURAMASA VIII is not better than the SR009 nor the R10 (bass light ver) in my opinion. However the mid and treble response and extension of the MURAMASA is where the points goes. Its silky smooth treble reminds me of Audio Technica house sound. But defiantly better treble response than ATH-L3000 or W3000ANV where i own them both. It have a bright tendency in my tease, mid-range is awesome but not as perfect as SR009, however the MURAMASA lack of bass quantity but deep bass extension (quality) is present like in the R10 bass light. But if you expect a super large soundstage then you better go get a AKG K1000 rather than any other headphone. This headphone come with a detachable 7N Cable terminated in 3pin balanced XLR (this is the original cable from Final audio) a 3pin XLR to 6.3 converter cable by Oyaide is also included in the package. For the test, I have SR009 with KGSSHV (500V ver) and SONY R10(Bass Light) / Forstex TH900 / Audio Technica L3000/ AKG K1000/ Airbow modded HD800S / with Luxman P700U amp doing AB comparison side by side with the MURAMASA VIII and what I can say is it all have it own advantage against each other and they are all good headphone. But nothing come close to the 009 and KGSSHV combo.

THE SETUP I USED TO PLAY WITH MURAMASA VIII IS LUXMAN D08 SACD PLAYER -> LUXMAN P700U -> MURAMASA VIII
The cable I use for the test is Crystal Cable Reference Diamond XLR and RCA, power cable for my amps are CARDAS CLEAR power cable.

Also worth to mention is this headphone weights 850g and is uncomfortable when you ware it for longer period of time.

The MURAMASA headphone comes with a headphone stand and a black hardcase.

Beautiful looking headphone for sure, if not exotic. It gives the impression similar to a new brand of supercar, impractical, ostentatious, and ridiculously expensive - all the perfect reasons you'd buy this headphone with your heart and not your head.

A lot of people are talking about the crazy weight which, to be fair, is insane, however no one seems to be addressing the fact that these headphones were $8,000. My dream set up is cheaper than that! I feel like with options such as the audeze LCD XC and, if you really want style, the ultrasone edition 10 out there why would you pay such an exuberant amount for what looks to be such a painful headphone. Even the Stax Amp + earspeaker combos are cheaper than this crazy thing.
