Pros: It is cheap and has a very good sound quality for the price. The mids and highs are excelent.
Cons: Very poor ear pad quality. Lacking bass on some recordings.
This headphone has a quite good sound quality for its price. Its sound is very clear, the mids and highs are well detailled. The bass is tight but some recordings sound lacking bass. It needed a little bit more body and warmish on the sound. The ear pads have a bad quality. The pads from mine has last about 8 months.

Pros: Good build quality
Cons: Everything about the sound. It is extremely recessed on the mids and highs. Extremely muffled sound. The bass hides all the music.
I am really disappointed with these cans. I have a Koss Porta Pro and I was waiting at least a closer quality compared to this. My AKG K420 sounds much better, with much more detail. These cans are bassy and have an extremely recessed mids and highs. The sound is extremely muffled. You, absolutely, can not hear to any detail on the music with these cans. For the same price or even cheaper, with a better quality, go with AKG K420 or Koss Porta Pro.

For the same price or even cheaper, with a better quality, go with Philips Citiscape Downtown or Sennheiser PX200.

Pros: Powerful and impactful bass. Very good build quality. High input power. Loud volume.
Cons: Not confortable! Very fatiguing. It makes a little of pression on the head.
Very strong and impactfull bass, great build quality. High input power. It is very sensible, has a very loud volume. Very good for DJ monitoring.

Not confortable! Very fatiguing. It makes a little of pression on the head. Not well ballanced, there's no much detail on the sound, the bass could be too excel over other frequencies. .

Pros: Fantastic sound quality! Very clean, detailed and balanced sound. Really strong power for high impedance headphones. Best buy until US 250,00.
Cons: None, really!

It can drive easily my AKG K702 (famous for being hard to drive) and my SENNHEISER HD-650 (300 ohms). Multi gain level: +0db, +10db, +18db, +20db. It can drive every kind of headphone easily!

good review Johannus, I was really unimpressed. it has heaps of power like you said, very clean but quite dark imo. my ifi micro ican has much more detail than the matrix. that's just my opinion though.

Nice review!
With gain set to 18 dB, my M Stage never had any problems driving my 600 Ohm DT880 headphones.

Pros: Great sound, strong bass, great construct quality, very confortable, warm sound.
Cons: Not a real reference headphone. The balance is not very precise.
Great sound, strong bass, great construct quality, very confortable, warm sound. This is a real overall headphone. Everything will sound good on it (not a real reference headphone). Fantastic for Electronic, Trance, House, Chill-Out, Hip Hop, Pop. Very good for Rock, Metal. Everything sounds good, from classical, passing through jazz, to Trash Death Metal. The balance is not very precise for mixing music. Really good for DJ monitoring.

@defbear True, there's a Pawn Shop up the street from me that's had these over and over, the thing is, they've had the same pair come back in two years in a row. I seen them two years ago on a Christmas day for $200, since the Amazon price came to $150, they dropped them down to $135(I think is unfair). Also, how do I know they're the same ones that come in over and over? Serial number is always checked, I've always asked, and there's an Audio Geek up there I converse with all the time.

For a short time they were for sale on Amazon for $99. May have been the day after Thanksgiving or something?

FWIW I paid $142.00 shipped from Amazon this past winter.

Pros: Fantastic sound clarity and definition. Incredible detailed sound and instruments separation. The soundstage is the best!
Cons: Not for everyone. Bass can be a little weak in some tracks. Hard to drive, amp needed.
Fantastic Reference Headphones, fantastic sound clarity and definition. The soundstage is the best! Incredible detailed sound and instruments separation.
Not for everyone. This is a very honest headphone: very analytical sound, bad recordings will sound bad, good recordings will sound fantastic pleasant. Bass can be a little weak in some tracks. Hard to drive, amp needed.

Pros: Clean sound, fantastic resolution, great tone, warm, well balanced, very detailed sound, the highs and mids are smooth, clean and sound very musically
Cons: Amp needed.
Everything sounds great, extremely clean and extremely detailed on the HD 650.

Fantastic clean sound, fantastic resolution, fantastic tone, warm, extremely well balanced, great bass (not boosted), very detailed sound, well separated instruments, very present sound, great sound stage, the highs and mids are smooth, clean and sound very musically.

And how about the infamous veil of the HD 650? It, definitely, does not exist. Perhaps on the old models, with the black drive, it could be true. On my new model, with the silver drive, there is absolutely no veil.
