Pros: Great bass, build quality, decent highs and fairly decent mids
Cons: Newer model 68ohm (needs a bit more power), short cable, uncomfortable after a while, very uncomfortable pads..
I have had these now for a few months. I heard they had a very bass orientated sound but not so much that it ruins everything else. When i first purchased these i was a bit confused as to why they were 68ohm instead of the original 38ohm, but after exchanging emails with Audio Technica UK i found that the newer models of this particular headphone were now 68ohm. I was a bit disappointed at first as i was hoping to use these with my Samsung Galaxy S4 for casual listening when i wasn't using them for some mixing. I then went out and made a purchase on the Fiio E18 amp and the difference was quite noticeable. The bass was there but it wasn't overpowering everything else, the mids and the highs both sounded great and i was happy with the outcome. Previously, i had plugged these in to the powerful sound card that is the Asus Xonar Essence STX and was blown away by how good these actually were. They are extremely powerful and can handle whatever you throw at them. If you're a basshead who craves some bass these might be for you. But then again, i think the 38ohm version were slightly more bassy because these aren't bass powerful without some EQ. That didn't bother me though, the sound all in all is great and that low end packs a punch without messing with anything else. The build quality on these seems strong, loads better than my Sony MDR-V700 which snapped at the hinges (common problem with them)

The comfort, this is where these headphones fail, and fail miserably. I have noticed after a while they hurt the top of your head and you have to take them off for a few minutes. I have also noticed the ear pads are shallow and this can be annoying and uncomfortable. The cable is short and can be annoying if like me you listen to music from your computer. You can't really move anywhere else with these.

Just remember that some websites haven't updated the specifications on these headphones and when they state they're 38ohm they're probably actually 68ohm.

If you're looking for a powerful headphone that shines a bit better with an amp then get these, the bass is great but is well controlled.

Thanks for reading. 20140418_124654.jpg

you should take a shot at stuffing a few cotton balls under the lip. works pretty good at giving you a little more space as well as improving thump.

Pros: Bass, Easy to drive..
Cons: Really uncomfortable, build quality is so bad..
I have had these headphones for around two years but they decided to break a few months back. I read online how unreliable they were at the time but still decided to give them a try. They are extremely bass orientated which is perfect if you listen to a huge amount of electronic music like myself, They are loud, the highs are ok but the mids are shockingly poor. They are just over 20ohm if i remember rightly, they are easy to drive. They are meant to be for DJ'in and although i used them for that purpose i also used them to listen to music. They are really uncomfortable after a little while of fully wearing them, to the point that your ears really do start to really hurt. The durability is a joke, they tend to crack on the cheap plastic that controls the cups that swivel. The ear pads are removable to my knowledge but the cable isn't. They have been discontinued now but you can still pick them up on Ebay and stuff but if you ever did decide to do that be careful! .. there was a huge problem with replica/fake copies of this particular model. I paid around £150 at the time and they are NOT worth that amount of money. The cable is coiled and stretches, i found it to be ok but for some people it can really be annoying which i understand but the main purpose with this set is to use them for mixing music. These are good if you like bass but not much else 'stands out'. I would rather pick up a set of Sony MDR-V55 which to my knowledge is the next step after this model and has actually dropped in price significantly to around £45. These can be annoying if you use them as a portable choice because of the coiled cable..

Pros: Bass, Comfort, Sound Quality
Cons: Build Quality isn't brilliant.
I purchased these brand new for £49 and it was a good buy! They are very bass orientated so if that's not your sort of thing i doubt you will like these that much. The mids and highs sound great even though the bass is so strong. Comfort wise for me personally these are comfortable, but i don't have a large size head or large ears. I have seen some people saying these are uncomfortable and they have changed the pads to some Beyer ones. I could happily listen to these with the stock pads for a long period without them hurting my ears or the top of my head. The build quality doesn't seem brilliant, i own the Audio Technica ATH-PRO700MK2 and the build quality on them seems quite a bit stronger. The cable is removable and is actually pretty lengthy, the only downside to the cable is the fact that it is a thin cable and i prefer a coiled cable that stretches wherever i decide to use them. The jack is a 1/4 inch one but it screws off so you can use them with a portable media player or phone. They aren't heavy at all, in fact, they are actually very light. I used an Asus Xonar Essence STX and used the second gain option and they sounded fantastic. I did use them with my Samsung Galaxy S4 and they are 64ohms so they are pretty easy to drive, the volume from my phone was satisfactory using PowerAMP android player. I mainly listen to electronic music and i DJ for fun and these are a decent purchase. If like me you prefer headphones to be more bass orientated then these are great for listening to music with. They come with a carrying pouch which is of a leather material and the construction isn't bad. If you can grab them at a similar price to what i paid you are in for a treat! I would even say these are worth much more than what i paid for them.
