Why don't more people use EQ to get the desired sound?

One thing I've noticed over my time here at head-fi is that, for the most part, no one ever says "Not enough bass? Use a little EQ." Why is this? I have been EQ-ing for a long time. ( I know that it can sometimes reduce the quality a bit)

I'm not exactly sure how to get started with an audiophile setup...

I don't really know what components I need to buy to get the most out of headphones. As of now, I have Sony MDR-V6's plugged into a 3.5mm jack on my speakers plugged into my computer's 3.5mm audio jack. I know many of you are probably cringing right now, as I don't have fancy headphone amps or...

Audio Technica AD-700's - How much do they "leak"

Hello,   I'm looking for a set of gaming headphones and currently leaning towards the Ad 700s with a Asus Xonar Essence STX sound card. I've read a lot about the AD's "leaking sound" compared to the ATH's due to their open configuration.   My question is how much sound gets out?  I'd...

    Sony MDR-V7. impressions and review.

Short Impressions (for TL-DNR) durable studio headphones. Lightweight and comfortable. Flat, uncolored, crisp, and detailed. Good definition, soundstage, and separation. Great for high quality audio sources, not so great for low quality sources. Everything the MDR-V6 is, but better.

Recommendation for headphones under 100 for metal music

I currently have the razer carcharias and while it's one of the most comfortable headset i've ever had, i'd like to upgrade to some "real" music headphones and not a new gaming one. My budget is up to 100 but i'll go a bit above if it is truly worth it. I also want the headphones to be...

I have had some music series ones for half a year now and they have broken, the left side rattles on heavy bass when any moderate volume is used.
