I understand the specific housing for DD setups because of venting, but since there's no need for all BA sets that reason would go out of the window. I'd much much rather have a much flatter IEM that is bigger and has support from the ear. It's probably done to reduce complaints from people with small ears, so it's good news for them.

Maybe that's the reason. But this makes it difficult to distinguish the FA series and the FD series from the appearance. The first time I saw this set was at our local audio exhibition, I thought FiiO had a new DD set lol.
