I do not believe you can connect the Apple 30-pin LOD port to the ODACs USB input.

I would say to get the Fiio E11 portable headphone amplifier ($50) and a Fiio L cable ($10), us that with your iPhone4.

Otherwise the cheapest DAC that can connect to the Apple LOD port is the HRT iStreamer, and it's not really a "portable" DAC.

E17 has a DAC, which you already have, E11 cannot be used whilst charging, JDS Labs C421 is your best bet, excellent sound, and can be used whilst charging, you just use a nice Mini-Mini cable to connect the 2, and get a nice LOD to connect it to your iphone.

Price difference quite big.. it is worth the difference of $200? Although the charging function is plus 1 for me.. but at home I willl use my schiit lyr instead so the charging is not really needed right?

How about the E17? What's the difference between the 2 ?

The E17 comes with a DAC, the E17 comes with USB, optical & coaxial (digital) inputs, none of which will connect to the iPod's 30-pin LOD port.

JDS C421 is well ahead of the E11 in sound quality, I have had both. Also the build quality and customer service is the best there is

AD8620 detailed fairly neutral, OPA2777 is warmer and lusher, smoother.

I have the AD8620, and should be comparing both models next year
