Im thinking about grabbing a pair of AKG 701's for a more linear sound and sending back my DT990's problem is I HATE the headband style, I like my headband to cup my head somewhat like Beyers and some sennheiser's do (pointy head), anyways has anyone got any ideas without completely destroying the AKG's headband to spread the pressure across more of my head?

What my friend did with his is he took a piece of stick on padded Velcro, and put it in the middle of his Sony headband. He has the same head type situation that you have. He says it does not affect the comfort, and if it does, it's hardly even a tiny bit. But, his head fits now, it's simple, cheap and effective. Just mine and my friends opinion. Hope this helped.

I was thinking about doing something like that but I thought adding too much bulk to the headband pad to spread pressure out would make the cans wanna lift up with AKG's self adjusting headband causing the cans to ride high rather than be centered over my ears completely.

Well, my friend actually used less than one square inch of padding. seriously, its tiny. But, he says it made the world of a difference. Just something to consider.

What about seat belt shoulder pads (may require shortening them a bit)?

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=pad++velcro+seatbelt&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313&_nkw=pad++velcro+seat+belt&_sacat=0

What is the width of the headband and the length (where the padding is needed)?
