Alclair Two-Way Universal

Are you asking about the "Curve"?  I haven't had the chance to spend much time with them.  I live near Alclair's office so I stop by from time to time.

Are you still looking to buy a universal?  If you are, I will go borrow a pair and let you  know how they compare to their custom IEM line-up.

They're an OEM expropriation from a hearing aid company called Blue-Gear, which is based in Minnesota:

An UK company called Cluistrom is also using them:

For a while, Japanese importer Zionote was also looking at them hard.

Thanks for the info.  Looks like the two companies are neighbors.  Can't find any impressions anywhere, but for their introductory price of $199, looks decent for a dual armature /w removable cable design.  They claim to use the largest bass driver.  I wonder if it's the same in the Westone ES5.

Hi guys, I'm sorry for not reporting back sooner. I got the chance to hear The Curve. I have them with me so in a few days I'll be able to write more about them.

Rally sorry for. leaving the thread looming without a reply.

I have spent some time with The Curve, a demo of the Dual XB, and my RSM.  It's been a fun journey.  The Curve, to my ears, is a departure from the Alclair lineup.  Where the Dual XB sounds like a baby sibling of the RSM, The Curve sounds more like a product from another company.  The Curve sounds very much like a finished product that is fun without harsh faults.  I have not encountered any 'splashiness' or outright awkward anomalies.  The universal has surprised me, though a departure from what I am used to with the RSM, it's similar by being able to make all music genres pleasant to listen to.  For $199, it's an easy adversary for all other 2-driver, universal options out there.

The fit is awesome, for me, with the tips I borrowed from Alclair.  The fit-time is fast and the universal is so light I forget it's there.

If there are any questions please feel free to ask.  I will have these models on me for a few more days so if I can try something out for you don't hesitate to ask.

My impressions are very similar to the one described in the review. I don't feel the bass is as lifted as the reviewer but his V-shaped opinion and warm comments are spot on.

This IEM is very easy to listen to. For general use, this is a great IEM.

Hmm. Is that information accurate?

They definitely share similar designs; they both have same cresent design, 2-pin detachable cable, and 2 BA units(CS-2).
IMO, It is definitely possible(maybe not. I dunno) Alclair might pay some money for C-shape design for Blue Gear patent.
However, I doubt it is OEM of Blue-Gear CS-2. I mean, they have similar outlooks but different.

I check your link and I found Blue-Gear's earphone unit is more angular. Housing design is bit different.
Blue Gear's housing tip toward inner concha is less sharp than that of Alclair, and Blue gear stuff looks more angular.

Since housing difference easily change sound as well. they are not same animal.
Well, I dunno they are working together, but I am sure their housings are not same.

It would be hreat if aclair sold differently colored models, not just clears...

One red, one blue FTW :p  LOL.

_______

I did get a pair of the Aclair Curves in.  They actually sound great, remind me a lot of the 4.Ai sound, though with much better lower treble, upper midrange response.  The sound is lush and warm, though it can be a little too warm at times losing out on the sharpness and energy that many singers and instruments have.
