I learned to play the 1st movement of the Italian Concerto. Thrilling!
For some of you guys (or girls) with more adventurous spirits, I grew up with Walter (Wendy) Carlos and his Switched on Bach, and more recently, Bachbusters with Don Dorsey. His rendition of the Italian Concerto is wonderful. I am not a purist. One of the wonders of Bach's music is its ability to adapt to different genres and different instruments.
Andres Segovia's guitar rendition of the violin partitas is extraordinary.
One of my dreams is go to to Leipzig to the annual Bach Festival. Imagine being right there where he directed his Cantatas and played his Fugues. Has anybody done been there?
