Hi guys.
I was wondering if any of you know if there is any discernable difference between an Apple Lossless file and a .flac file when listening on a iPod with an external amp attached?
WI'll there be a sound difference, or does it not matter?

I'm pretty sure there is no audible difference, other than the psychoacoustic effects. The main difference between ALAC and FLAC is that ALAC is Apple's proprietary format and equivalent to FLAC. As far as I know, iTunes is unable to play FLAC, at least without any third party assistance.

The only time to care about the difference is if you're using a device that can only read one, not the other. Some Chinese players can only read hi-res files if they are in FLAC format.
