I am no expert! but I have always loved my Sony MA900`s but lately they just sound really muddy! and not as clear. Is this a sign of them being faulty?
 
Edit: just listened to some nice chilled music and they sound fine, wondering if its the bass overpowering these headphones at high volumes and making them sound muddy!!!..... are they known for not so clear bass levels?

Turn EQ off if it is enabled, and try it with a variety of recordings. Some recordings are just inherently bad.
