So it only uses the dual DACs when you listen via the balanced output, but not when you use standard headphones?
Didn't realise that.
So anything that has a balanced output will always have dual DACs?
Yes it uses one dac on SE, and you can have a balanced out with just one dac. It’s just a separate ground for each channel instead of a common ground. And you can also have 2 dacs and 2 amps.

This is incorrect. The SR15 uses 2 DACs always, not matter the output. All dual DAC AK players are dual mono setups and one DAC is used for each channel whether you are using SE or balanced output.

Yes, you will see longer battery life using SE vs balanced since the power output on the balanced is more. AK players shut off outputs that are not being used to prevent interference or noise. The savings in battery life of using SE over balanced is not much.
I just want to update here,
Since getting my sr15 about a week ago... im loving it ao much.
Im able to hear more mid details on certain songs that i was never able to with my mobile phone.
The size is very good however i would still of liked more battery lol. Im only using SE, no wifi, no bt, 0 screen brightness and moderate volume from 60 - 75 max(with my b&o h6 gen2).
But!!!
I love this DAP!! 100x better than the fiio in every single aspect.(maybe not battery lol, id say theyre almost same.. maybe fiio 25% better)
Ps: would it be possible for A&K to add an option to change volume increments from numbers to possible db? (Ex: having volume set to -50db)

That wouldn't be particularly accurate as the sound pressure level (what decibels measure) is dependent on the sensitivity of the headphones - and this varies considerably.
I've had my SR15 for about two weeks. Here are a few sound impressions:
Until yesterday I was listening single ended using my Audeze iSine 20s and Shure SE530s.
My impression upon first firing up the SR15 was that it sounded thin. I wasn't certain I had made a good purchase decision. After playing it a couple hours, it sounded fuller and really opened up. The change was not insignificant. No more uncertainty.
The iSines sounded good single ended, as did the SE530s. Both were full, rich and unconstrained.
Yesterday I received my new, balanced Reference Silver headphone cables from Lavricables. To say I was blown away by the improvement in sound from my iSines would be an understatement. It's a whole new ballgame! The 20s sound natural, punchy, full, dynamic and spacious. I would not have believed the difference would be so great.
Tomorrow I will receive the Astell&Kern Beyerdynamic Special Edition AK T5P 2nd Generation headphones I ordered earlier this week. I plan to use them with both the SR15 and my Bottlehead Mainline amp. I'll report back once I've had a chance to give them a good listen.
