ATH-W1000X Thread!

Guys something I would recommend is that you pair a W1000x with a Hifiman DAP, they are very warm analog sounding players that pair nice with my W1000x

as far as tubes go, they tend to be noisy so finding one with a very black back ground would be most ideal

I'll mention the Vali sounded good with the W1000x, but it was noisy. An there were times that I preffered my Solid State Amp to the Vali depending on the genre :/

I still think though a Warm Dac maybe even a Tube Dac might work nice with a clean solid state

May be I'm wrong but I always believed that a dac should be as neutral as possible in case you want to change the headphones
I agree a tube amp is a good option to tune the sound to your liking and get the best matching

Yea your right that it should b but for around $200 you can get the Aune T1, which is a very popular Tube Dac/Amp here, which I would imagine would pair nicely with the W1000x

My W1000X was doing good even without an amp, I was using a musical fidelity v3 and loved the pairing

The price is now very interesting for such nice cans

yea it's been up and down for a while now, it's interesting  I guess, as the price hasn't changed to to much in the last few years

You can still find the fully modded ones for around $450 ish

These are so damn beautiful but I can't let that beauty overcome me!!!

Honestly, I think the Orignal W1000 and the W1000X are the prettiest cans, the W1000Z [btw there is a new model out :[ ) are not the greatest looking wood backs, though I'm not a huge fan of the Grain of Teak Wood

ooh cool, let us know how it sounds! I heard when wired correctly the SEX was a balanced amp? Either way let us know how you like it!

For better or worse, I've started enjoying my W1000x more out of my NFb10ES2, so I've sold the hm801 and I'm gettin a 901

A quick update! Got the Bottlehead SEX finished last week and I must say it does sound nice. More of the smooth sound that I like from the w1000x's and get this....a lot more detail than before! A lot more detail! I keep pulling the phones off cause I'm thinking somethings there but it's really a new sound I haven't heard before.

That's enough for now, back to the music!

Congrats! Learning to build an amp one day would be a very interesting project. I was briefly interested in the crack, but I read it wasn't really suitable with low impedance headphones which I listen to a lot. At the moment I just don't have the time to spare.

What set up did you have before?
