It's interesting how Kingwa describes v3 as "warmer and more musical"... not necessarily saying the v5 is a definitive upgrade from the v3.

It is a clear upgrade: Detail, sound stage, timing, everything is more accurate and closer to natural. I got my Ref8 directly with v5, and I got a v3 second hand, because I hoped a bit more of "groove". However, it is just less precise. Which makes, that for certain records, there is less "fatigue", compared to v5, it is like listening with the head below the pillow.

Agreed,"The V5 is neutral sound than the V3, the V3 is a little warmer, some people consider it is musical, but there are a lot users upgrade from V3 to V5 have good feedback."
That was as much as I could get out of him as well.
