I have a couple of good "medium soundstage" cans, the Neuman NDH20, and the Grado RS1e. For me, coming from the non-hifi world, their staging(size and accuracy) was very impressive and enjoyable. I'm currently saving up to buy an HD800 S so I can hopefully experience that sensation taken to it's natural conclusion.

With that in mind, I've been told that a big part of soundstaging actually comes from the way music was recorded, so different recordings of the same symphony will have a different soundstage on the same headphone/amp/etc. I was hoping to get some recommendations of particular recordings that would be best suited to a large soundstage headphone like the HD800 S.

What albums/songs/symphonies/operas/whatever would you recommend I check out?
My musical tastes go all over the place, so any genre is fine.

I have the original year release & this one, any version is OK.
I never get tired of playing this back, the excellent production is dark (less on trebles) but will "show" on capable set, very analog & a very huge sound field on all axes (depth, height & width), w/ lots of 3d effects...
