I'm quite knowledgeable about audio equipment until it comes to DACs and amps. I'm going to be purchasing the Grado sr80i's and I hear that they work best with an amp just like every headphone. Should I spend that money on an amp instead? I own Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80ohm headphones, and I know that they would improve with an amp. I will be using the amp at home but I want to use it with my ipod and my computer, I'm not sure if there is anything around my price range that is portable and have those features. Forgive my ignorance, and if you feel that I should be educated on something DO NOT hesitate to link me to a page that could teach me or teach me yourself. Thanks.

Edit: The Fiio E07K seems to be what I want. Opinions?

The E07k would be a good option. I had a pair of DT770 80 ohms and I couldn't imagine using it unamped. The volume would be way too low for me. Another good option would be the Fiio E11 (amp only), which is going for $59 on Amazon.

If your music player has a DAC, you don't need a DAC.

If it has a not very good DAC, you might want to go for an amp/dac
combination which has a better DAC than the one you have now.

With regard to amps, only amps, in the $100 or so range I recommend
the FiiO E12, the C&C BH2, and, of course, the JDS Labs O2.
