Where do you see it for $230 shipped?

My bad.  I was thinking of the Little Dot mkiii, which I have also been researching lately

I've also been looking into some dac/amp solutions like the grant fidelity tube-dac 11 and yulong d100.

More like $250 shipped for the m-stage.

Bumping this thread because I'm in the same market. I just ordered the Audio-GD NFB 12.1, which should be here by the end of the week, hopefully.

Although now I'm looking at the Grant Fidelity TubeDAC-11 and wondering if I made a mistake. It looks so much prettier and more professional than the NFB 12.1 and it has the option for Tube headphone out which would be really nice for my HD600. Ugh this is so difficult. My eyes hurt from researching so much!

They're both good units.  Enjoy your 12.1 and be happy

I opted for the Asgard myself.  Loving it so far...

Bought the 12.1 last night and it arrived this morning.

Using optical to DAC and line-out to my WA2 amp. The NFB-12.1 sounds much, much better than my old Essence STX sound card.

Sheer Audio HA-006+ (dynalo) - one of the all time great SS circuits.

Ah - that's a shame. The 006+ was about $280. Same amp, without bothering with the "boutique" parts. Still at $450 a relative bargain - but out of the OP's spec.

I'd probably have to recommend the Lovely Cube / Matrix M-stage Lehmann clones, then. Or DIY (M3 or Dynalo).

I can't say that I've got much of any experience with any of the other SS amps mentioned, but I've got the Asgard and love it.  Being mainly a tube guy (aside from my Marantz 2270 and my Mad Dog/Asgard combo) I've never had a system without at least one tube somewhere in the chain.  Depending upon my mood and what I'm listening to, I often prefer the Asgard/Mad Dog combo to my Decware CSP2+/HD650 combo.
