Hello!

Its pretty straight forward, what in your opinion is the best headphone for pinpoint accuracy regarding sound stage?

Just curious, I have K701s and find them to be exceptional for gaming, just wondering if there's something significantly better which could enhance my game further (Very happy with the K701's all things said!!)

Hehe, I clicked on this going to recommend K-701. Don't think there is any significant upgrade over the K-701 for gaming, more like sidegrades. But if I'm wrong, please feel free to correct me.

When I was still competitively gaming, I really liked the hd598's. Perfect sound stage and accurate bass but nothing boomy and distracting. It's a very good gaming hp!!

K1000 would be the ultimate in soundstage, but they're more like earspeakers than headphones.

They're amazing! But I can't find any for sale, let alone power them yet...

EDIT: Hmm, after some research I've found I can get a pair of K1000's, they'd need re-cabling, but assuming I brought and re-cabled them, what amp is suitable? I can only supply a max of 300mw @ 120ohms.. Which I doubt is enough lol.

There is another amp I have which I know would leave my K701's in tatters if I put it to max, so that might be what the K1000's are asking for, but I don't have the specs on it at all so for arguments sake I'm going to ignore it atm..

EDIT 2: Never mind, can't get them anymore, they sold... I'd like to change my question actually - what would be the best step up from the K701s? I love them to death, they're phenomenal, and I know a step up is going to cost some $$ but curious to what the options would be.

Now, I own a pair of Q701's, but for just straight up soundstage, I'd recommend the Audio Technica AD700. They are amazing at soundstage. You hear everything. That's all.

Quite frankly the HD800's have no equal. But really, the K701 is more than sufficient. I'd say the HD800's are similar to the K701's with an all round upgrade. They have pretty equal soundstage width but the depth is significantly better on the HD800's. Having a world class dynamic for gaming is ridiculous IMO though...

I would not recommend the K1000 simply because they have insane amping requirements. Just look at the measurements. I haven't heard them though, so I can't comment on the sound.
