Hello,
I guess everyone starts off by saying they're new to this, so i'd better get that out of the way.
I listen to everything, which is why I need my first pair to really just be good with everything.
I'll be listening from 3 main sources, my desktop, whose onboard sound is the Supreme FX from the Asus Formula VI Maximus (supposedly already drives 600ohm headphones, so I wanna see if this is true.) The second source would be my laptop, which is where i'd be doing about 50% of my listening. The last source is my iPhone 4.
I've been researching different headphones and have decided to get the Beyerdynamics DT-880 as they are so highly recommended without spending a lot of money. I already have a E17 Amp/dac I use with my UE6000's. I use the e17/ue6000 for more on the travel type stuff, and am looking for something to use at home.
Basically I was wondering the following.
Should I invest in the 600ohm DT-880s, and buy the E09K to help my E17 when I use my laptop/iPhone. Or should I just buy the 250ohm to use with the E17 and save the money?
Would I notice a justifiable difference in sound quality?
I browsed quite a while and saw no threads that really answer this question. Obviously there will be a quality increase, but would it be worth the price difference?
The 600ohm DT-880s sell for about $240 on ebay, $300 on amazon. The 250hm DT-880s sell for about $200 on ebay and $225 on amazon. I'd prefer amazon as I consider it a bit more secure and I have 88 dollars in gift cards.
The e09k is $109 on amazon. About the same price on ebay.
Thanks for the help!
