I have both the NAD C542 and the DAC Magic. I like the DAC in the NAD better than the DAC Magic.

I listened to the NAD C542 with the digital out to the DAC Magic using a Blue Jeans digital cable. The sound was similar to the NAD DAC but I found the soundstage to be a bit narrow and dynamics lacking a bit. I say a bit because the differences were slight - but present.

I am still using the DAC Magic with my PC and MacBookPro and it sounds great. I haven't given up on the DAC Magic for my NAD C542. I will be trying out some other digital cables to see if there is a difference.
