Hi all, I know this question may be silly but I wonder if it is safe to use Beyerdynamic A20 with AKG K3003? Because the output impedance of A20 is said to be within 30~600 ohm, and the impedance of K3003 is only 8 ohm. Will there be a problem if I connect these two together?

Hi Si,

There shouldn't be a problem, but the output impedance of the A20 is 100 Ohms, so the damping factor will be awful and the headphones will likely sound very bad.

May I ask why you want to hook the K3003 to the A20?

Hi Oscar,

Thanks for the reply. I actually bought this amp for my Beyerdynamic DT1990 Pro, not for K3003. I was curious about whether this amp can be of some improvement to K3003. If not, I will not use them together.

I do not think it will bring any improvement, most likely it will be a very poor match and I would advise against it.
