I've scoured Head-fi & can't find a satisfactory solution to this question: is there an alternate headband that will fit or can be easily modded to fit Grado's PS1000?
The PS1000 is probably my favorite headphone for most types if music but I find the headband not really suitable for the weight of the drivers IMO, they just don't sit right & become uncomfortable after little listening time.
All suggestions welcome. Please remember- the comfort factor is only my personal experience with these beautiful cans, cheers! :D

I’ve been going through a similar situation recently.

If you can get a new V3 headband from Jmoneyaudio, that would do the trick. I had one of those on an older set of grados and they are very well padded. But the guy who runs that site is away very frequently and doesn’t respond quickly to emails.

For a while, I tried a crude solution of just taping some open cell foam strip to the bottom of the grado headband. very cushy but ugly as sin. I stopped doing that as I got a used V2 Jomney headband from the classified section here on head-fi (FYI the V2 headband is not as thick as the V3 model but still better than the grado stock)

Hey thanks, I probably should have mentioned that I already have a Jmoney V2 fitted, I'm looking at fitting the drivers onto a whole new assembly, I'll definately have a look at the V3 though. I was thinking something like Audeze's new headband for the LCD2, probably too big.

You bought the PS1000 just to use their drivers? You must be rich.

Nah, I traded my HD800's for them & just can't seem to make them comfortable- maybe I got the terminology wrong, I meant just different headband & yokes. I don't want to mess around with them too much, just hybridize them a little......

Wow, you found a fellow Aussie to trade you his $2300AUD PS1000 for your
HD 800?

Check these guys

Yeah, a little piece of the housing on one of the drivers was broken- Grado quoted $200 to replace the housing but it was a clean break so I just glued it back in- can barely see where it came off. Thanks for the link, though I already have a Jmoney headband on them. I think they'd be my perfect open cans if not for the cable twisting & comfort factor.........not that I'm complaining...... they're awesome!

Spewing that you're not in Melbourne, we're having a Head-Fi meet in a few weeks.
A GS1000 might make an appearance, I'm bringing my 325i and a few others
are bringing a vintage RS1 and SR80i. Wait for it - there is talk of a guy
bringing his Sennheiser HE90 Orpheus!

Martin Custom Audio does a very classy looking headband out of lambskin that is worth looking at

Hope it goes well- I'm on holidays for a few weeks & would be good excuse to visit Melbourne (esp with Tiger back flying), got that weekend booked unfortunately- I gotta keep an eye on the meets forum!

Something will come up in Brisbane - there's a new Aussie popping up on Head-Fi every day it seems, we're taking over the place

The PS1000 is the most comfortable Grado I've worn but it's also the heaviest. A thicker headband would be welcome. The jmoney was the only alternative that I was aware of so I'll have to check out Martin Custom Audio. It's a bit of a shame that the Melbourne Head-Fi meet clashes with the first week of the footy finals. I would have brought the PS1000 along but the G beckons.

You thought about going custom?

A leather goods specialist should be able to knock-up something with or without lambs wool. Plus it would be unique, perfect for the PS1000.

A good auto trimmer who works on classics should be able to knock one up in his sleep with leather of your choice.
