I'm shocked this thread hasn't been brought back.

Get yer cookware out! Pots, pans, utensils, knives, rolls, tasting spoons, flatware, dinnerware, silverware-- got a cool thing in your kitchen or have questions about a cool kitchen thing? Let's talk about it!

Miyabi knives. I used German Wustoff knives for 30 years before trying Japanese. Wow, they cut so much better!

Just bought a crap load of Made In pans. I'll post pics after the move. I needed to equip the kitchen, and I was deciding between all-clad copper core and made in. I ordered the following.

clad Cookware
8qt stock w pasta
6 qt rondo
5 qt saucier
3qt saucier
2qt saucier
12" fry pan
10" nonstick fry pan
3.5qt nonstick sautee pan

12" carbon steel fry pan
10" carbon ateel pan

2 half sheet pans w/ silicon mats and cooling racks

2, 1/4 sheet one nonstick one reg

9x9 baking dish
9x13 baking dish

Then I got one item from all-clad
Ha1 11x11 griddle for stuff like grilled cheese and maybe pancakes.

Nice! How do you like made in vs all clad? Did you buy that for your house or professionally?

I bought them for my house I'm moving to next month. I have not had a chance to use them yet, but I'll update here once I do. From fit and finish, they are on par with all-clad, but better handles and lids. They are 5 ply like the all-clad d5. From reviews I have watched, the heat transfer and performance have out performed the all-clad d5 and d3. If it were not for the research I had done prior, I'd have gone with the all-clad.

I bought the All-Clad D3 set, because I almost always stand over the stove while cooking. Didn't see a need for copper lined/extra layered D5 or D7, where they can take more time to heat up to the same temp as the D3. I do kind of wish the pots had a lip, but that's small beans.
I like them a lot, but if I plan on getting a couple more items, I'll look into Made In.

Based on your name I assume you like to BBQ! What do you mean about standing over the stove? The all clad D3 heats up quicker but you have to watch it more so you do not burn, and since you stand over the stove you are always watching it.

For pots and pans the CuisinArt multiclad Pro range is great and quite a bit cheaper than All Clad gear (lots of Amazon reviewers with both rate it as good as the All Clad range). I got their 12 quart stockpot for making ramen broths, after destroying a cheap one making tonkotsu (literally one cook, but then it was an 8 hour rolling boil). The pick below is the shio tori paitan I made in the CuisinArt for dinner on Thursday.

For anyone looking out for stand mixers I would recommend Ankarsrum. I have a KitchenAide, but it doesn't really cut it for making breads. If you're more baking cakes and the like then KitchenAide is fine, but when this one dies ill definitely be getting the Ankarsrum (I'm half expecting the KA to die the next time I make Vietnamese style baguettes for Banh Mi, it struggles with the intensive mixing).

Wow. Must have been a company that said "We can do better', and did. Are they less expensive?
Yes, they can be about half of what all clad are, especially when they do sales.
