I bought the Beyerdynamic DT880 600Ohm headphones and need a DAC/Amp for it. I'm going to be using it mainly with my PC, playing FLAC files. I'm willing to spend around $400 on it.

I would prefer a DAC and Amp in one unit, or maybe something like an ASUS Essence STX with an amp, but i'm unsure of the quality of the STX and if it's capable of running the 600Ohm headphones.

What would you guys reccomend me?

Audio-gd NFB-12. I've got the NFB-11, and it handles my DT990/600s very well.

And you'll still have nearly $200 left to spend on Barry Manilow CDs.

I would suggest the cheapest op-amp based DAC, something like a Zero which also amps really well however... the DT880s come alive on a good tube amp, brings out that mean bass and opens up the soundstage. I'm very happy with my Darkvoice and current tube config.
