DENAFRIPS FPGA Firmware Update (12TH Anniv.)
May 10, 2024 at 12:47 AM Post #1,126 of 1,181
Has anyone had the chance to update to the latest 4/28 firmware? I'm wondering what changes were implemented, and if the sound signature has changed yet again (for better or worse).
... would you mind sharing a screen shot of the support page? My old 2023 links don't work any more.
For which DACs?

Is there really a new firmware? I'm under impression the v1.4 is still the latest one (for Pontus II at least).

I don't think we gonna see 1.5 for a long time as what we've got so far is amazing and "hard" to beat
I admit that after the all the firmware confusion, a while back, I have set my Pontus II on the v1.0 and didn’t think more about it… and I guess not to be inclined to it in a near future. At least until I read many users positive feedback stating that the v1.0 is finally improved retaining all the natural “analog” like liquid sound :)

For me that's the latest version firmware (12th 2nd edition). V3.5 for Venus (II).
When I compare ripped CDs / Qobuz streaming to the same album via my Rega P3, the sound is quite similar, and really hard to tell which is better. Quite happy. :)

For the link I was sent a couple days ago for my FPGA chip (for my Pontus 2, non 12th), there's no sign of a 1.5 version, yet at least.
But eager to hear what might be circling around and what impressions are sonically.

I just updated my second Pontus 2 (I have a Pontus 2 12th for my headphone system) to 1.4. It had the oldest firmware I think. Gotta say, not really shure it was an "upgrade" in my stereo system... I feel that the older firmware was more immersive and had a bit more depth. I`ll leave it at 1.4 for a while and maybe reflash back.

OH….please… keep us posted! What is your total system for the Pontus 2?
I switched mine on the first iteration of The Firmware. BAD for me! BAD…😀…(did I get my point across:))…also.."for me" burn-in was utter nonsense. …I wasted a LOT of time on that …but I understand that the company was TRYING to do something great for us…then I had to wait for the original firmware to be posted and go thru the process again…
I got immediate BLISS …no burn-in. I decided NOT to go thru that process again as I am happy enough with my sound…but…those restless leaves they crackle…LOL!…Tarun (The British Audiophile) who I respect swears by the new version of The Firmware…but YOU are putting my mind at ease. 🙂
THANKS for the post!
