Getting replacement TH900 drivers sounds like a good idea.  I wonder how much they would cost too...I got one not too good driver that I want to replace.  
 
Anyone tries to contact Fostex directly?

Don't give up that easy.  Try Lawton Audio - ask Mark where you can find a driver or the place Canadian411 gave the website address for - keep the faith!

I would seek "refurbished" from the company (Fostex) parts or cans in whole. They're going to want to keep you in the family.

Oh, agree 100%, you have to change a pair, not just one.  I have both D7k and th900 and the th900 sounds drastically different that changing one driver will ruin the sound signature.
 
I will try to talk to Fostex to see if getting replacement drivers is possible.  May be I should troll the internet for possible Denon leftover stocks somewhere.  Funny, because I was able to grab a few plastic inserts for the earpads from BestBuy.com recently.

Well, from what I can see after some Googling is there no readily available place to source drivers for the D7k or the TH900. Would the TH900 drivers just screw into my existing cups anyway or would it require further modding?

I wish someone would order TH900 for Denons and see if they are indeed any different.  I can't imagine the drivers getting more articulate without plonking straight into electrostat territory.
 
My adventures with the Fostex T50RP tells me something about closed cans, their cups and driver relationship.  We now have a great range of Fostex planar inspired reference closed headphones to choose from.  Fostex developed a great reputation after the T50 advantage was realised and was smart to leverage this goodwill - especially with Denon getting wonky on distribution.

The only difference I have ever seen regarding the differences between the D7000 and TH900 drivers is the magnet. Denon/Foster never published specs on magnet strength for the D7000 so it's only a guess what it might be.
 
My guess would be that the D7000 and TH600 are probably a closer match, parts wise.
 
I think it would be worth a call to Mark Lawton to see if he can sell a replacement D7000 driver.

Yes, he's already gotten the dirt on the TH900 upon close examination. I'm currently using new TH900 pads (Lawton Audio) for my HE-6.

Right,  there was a treble issue in the D7000s that could never be EQ'd out.  Perhaps this was indeed driver related.

I've emailed Mark Lawton. Sadly he has no spare drivers that suit the task. He suggested getting a pair of TH-600's and modding them instead.
 
If only I hadn't had to shell out for a new boiler, car and my father's funeral the last two months. It's been quite the year already.

Well, I have just ordered some Fostex T50RP headphones that I intend to modify. I think this incident has forced me to reassess how much I spend on my audio equipment. I need to be realistic and only buy equipment that I can afford to lose if the worst happens.
 
So, although I have put the feelers out for a replacement driver, do you think anybody would be interested in buying what remains for spares? I'm in the UK, if that helps anybody.
