I've been googling for hours and can't seem to find any TRUE answer on this topic. I just put an order in on Amazon for the DT990 Pro's 250ohm w/ a sound blaster z that has a dedicated 600ohm headphone jack amp integrated into the card.

I can't find anywhere if I should get an amp as well in combo with the sound card, or just use the sound card, or scratch the sound card and just use an amp. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it!

I do FPS games and music. No movies, or studio monitoring but I do love good audio quality.

Thanks so much

The SB-Z's built in headphone amplifier can easily drive 250-Ohm Beyer headphones.

it cannot easily drive it
but it can drive it well

600 ohm is impossible with Sound card only

i treid that all already

You get 80% of Possible with that card from your cans
last 20% is possible only with good AMP

Thanks,

Now what would be a good amp? Just adding in a "magni" to the setup or what?

Thanks!
