I just checked out the Effect Audio website … looks like the Ares II has been discontinued and replaced by the Ares S. I wonder why EE chose a discontinued model unless they committed to the remaining Ares II stock for the Odyssey?

Seems like the cable may be a performance choke point for the Odyssey and will need an upgrade.

First thing I listen to at SoCal will be the Odyssey!

One other thing, since the Odyssey only uses 2 e-stat drivers vs the 4 used in the Odin, I wonder if this difference is contributing to the new tuning in the midrange/trebles.

They probably commited the remaining Signature series wired for the stock EA stuff. Not just Aries.

Empire feels confident enough to use a cheaper cable, thus implying more of the price tag is reflective towards the iem. Huge confidence in this product.

I can't imagine them trying to fit 2 more e-stat drivers with the huge weapon X driver inside

I wouldn't be surprised though given the W9+ with Odin and the MKIIs, WX with the Evo. WX+ is going to happen. Maybe WXI is the planar

With regard to the Ares II it has indeed been replaced by the new Ares S. There is always going to be stock of the older one in various places though and so I can see why they might be used here. For a lot of people it should not be an issue, as a good proportion will swap it out anyway for an after market cable. Even if they don’t I still think Ares II is pretty good anyway. YMMV obviously!

I have a spare 1960s cable, so it won't be a problem. I guess I prefer to get it with an Ares 2 cable at a lower price than bundled with a higher end cable with a price over $1000 more.
