Hello Head-Fi!

Today is an exciting one as we officially unveil the IE 600—the third family member of our audiophile in-ear range. With a housing crafted from NASA-grade materials and sonic lineage to the IE 900 and IE 300’s TrueResponse transducers, the IE 600 brings audiophiles a lifetime of exquisite sound with every listen. Each earpiece is 3D printed (more on that) with ZR01 amorphous zirconium via a precision manufacturing process for unmatched durability. The insides are just as special, producing an intimate sound that perfectly balances realism and expression.

Exceptional In Every Detail

The IE 600's meticulous craftsmanship complements its world-class signature sound. The amorphous zirconium housing has an atomic structure similar to glass yet triple the hardness of steel, thus it can be shaped with uncanny precision and consistency to offer our complex transducer system an ideal environment to reproduce larger-than-life sound. This AMLOY-ZR01 material is actually found on the drilling head of the NASA Mars Rover, applied specifically for its toughness in extreme conditions. The earphone nozzles contain dual-chamber frequency absorbers to unmask critical details in your music—when combined with the 7mm TrueResponse transducer, the results are breathtaking vocals, resolute treble detail and clear bass extension. These casings, made in Germany by Heraeus, conclude their journey at our Ireland manufacturing plant for assembly and rigorous channel matching.

IE 600 features:

  • Expressive, intimate sound quality that is both engaging and natural
  • TrueResponse 7mm dynamic transducer for extra wideband performance with utmost phase integrity and ultra-low distortion
  • Dual-chamber frequency absorber mitigates spikes from frequency clusters, revealing exceptional treble detail without harsh sibilance
  • Unique back-volume manages air flow behind the transducer for exceptional low-frequency integrity
  • Each earpiece is 3D printed using ZR01 amorphous zirconium for unmatched durability, resistance to corrosion, and protective hardness
  • Smooth, scratch-resistant finish retains a like-new aesthetic even with daily use
  • Assembled by hand at Sennheiser’s Ireland production plant
  • Sealed, noise-isolating fit with 3 sizes each of silicone and viscoelastic memory foam adapters (S/M/L)
  • Ships with two cables: single-ended cable with 3.5mm plug termination and balanced 4.4mm termination
  • Cables are para-aramid reinforced with Fidelity+ MMCX connectors
  • Recessed cable sockets for improved strain relief and long-term durability
  • Adjustable ear hooks for a secure, comfortable fit
  • 4 Hz - 46,500 Hz frequency response
  • Efficient 18 Ω impedance for use with a wide range of audio sources
  • Remarkable clarity at both SPL extremes with <0.06% THD (1 kHz, 94 dB)
  • Up to 118 dB SPL sensitivity (@1 kHz / 1 Vrms)
  • Protective, rigid travel zip case, cable clip and cleaning tool included

It’s All About Connection

Included with every IE 600 are two para-aramid reinforced cables: a single-ended cable with a 3.5mm plug termination, as well as a balanced cable with a 4.4mm plug. The IE 600 uses gold-plated Fidelity+ MMCX connectors that provide utmost contact integrity. Each housing-side receptacle is seated within a recessed, 4.8mm-wide socket to provide wearers with robust strain relief. Three sizes of silicone and viscoelastic eartips ensure a comfortable coupling for optimum bass response and environmental isolation. A debris cleaning tool and clothing clip stash away in the zippered storage case so you can enjoy the IE 600 wherever you decide to have your hi-fi fix.

I really enjoyed my brief demo time with the IE900. I felt it was tuned a little too on the 'expressive'-side of things for my tastes. I also don't think an IEM needs to be over $1,000 USD to be good and I hope to hear these at some point.

I wasn't expecting this type of production technique, but it actually increases the interest in these. I'm tired of so many acrylic-shelled IEM's popping up.

Then they are made in China, aren't they?

It wouldn't make sense for them to be made in Germany or Ireland, and sold first in China and Japan, right?

Can you detail what you called final assembly. Is this the sticker on the box?
Please check out the video and you can watch actual footage of the process.

Housings: Germany
Acoustics: Germany (then assembled in Ireland)
Final Assembly: Ireland

More video of the process is on the way!

[edited for clarification on acoustics and assembly locations]

@crinacle Thank you for the video and rating. Your quote is quite quotable. I don't want to spoil it, but it starts with "BEST...DYN..." ahh I've said too much. [edited to add tag]
