Do these sound issues occur while using an SD card with your own files?

I copied FLAC files to the internal storage of the machine. And the problem still occurs.
Okay, thanks. I will stay on the sidelines for now.

Problem with connect to Coaxial and Fiber, I have a PS5 digital adapter to R9 from coaxial or Fiber.
But the sound break apart. Like Connect and disconnect.
I have no problem with my AV receiver and Integrated amp.

Please fix it.
Been ask the Factory of the Adapter.
They say the reason is the R9 sample rate is not match the a adaptor. Fiio have to update to Fix it. @FiiO
Please.🙏

https://forum.fiio.com/note/showNoteContent.do?id=202401282237359257504&floor=

I've found a thread on Fiio forums with my exact issues. And one of the posters did have a listen with the original shipped firmware and he/she thinks it was not a problem before the firmware update (which would also explain how reviewers didn't complain about it because it is pretty obvious and annoying).

Anyways, this is most likely going to be fixed in an update (hopefully in the very near future before 30-day return window expires).

i had been eyeing on a used R7 for sometimes as the 2nd hand price dipped below us$500. but at that point, the R9 was announced (which double the listed price!). i've struggling for a while whether i should get the cheap R7 or the newer and supposingly better iteration from fiio. as the main purpose is for desktop use, i also considered the topping DX9 (DAC/Amp combo only). during this searching process, i found a 2nd hand R9 just bought in Jan 24 and so finally settled to get the R9 :dt880smile:

after factory reset and upgrading to firmware v1.0.2 (it took quite long to finish the upgrade), everywhere works smoothly and i installed my streaming apps from google play without any trouble. i plugged my solitaire P-SE into the XLR out on high gain, vol 70 and the sound is clean as i expected from the quad thx aaa 788+ modules. I don't have any issue to get to adequate listening level even with 1266 phi TC (after dialing vol upto 95 in high gain). the top and the right side with vent got a bit warm after about an hour of play time but the R9 never got hot to touch (like the M17 when driven hard!) another great product from Fiio at a price undercutting most competitors.

i much more prefer the black colorway available in the R7. the white and chrome side panel of the R9 look very odd and untasteful to me. i'm a loyal fiio user and has been using their product since E7. I got M11 pro then M15, M17, UTWS3 and UTWS5, even the niche KB3 keyboard :relaxed: but frankly their product design is getting worse and worse. i'm not sure as one of the biggest personal audio brand in china, why they couldn't afford to get some talented designer just to make a product that actually looks good. their biggest shortcoming is the industrial design. i dare to say it is amongst the worst tier in the industry and it's a real shame.

i'd also suggest that 3 hardware buttons for FWD, play, back should be added just like AK CA1000/CA1000T. it's a bit annoying and troublesome to wake the screen up and then use the touch screen for track control when this unit is meant for desktop use.

just saw a model set of a hifi listening room on the way home. the price is not cheap but looks quite detailed :relaxed:

If you use Roon, you can control the R9 through it and you won’t need hardware buttons.

oh yes, that's true. thanks for that pointing out. but as my use case is desktop (similar to how i use CA1000) and i sit very close to the R9, i don't use roon remote to control it (or using roon to play my streaming content either). maybe my use case is not so common :relaxed:

I connected the R9 to the ifi NEO Stream via a TypeC to TypeC cable, turned the R9 into DAC mode and noticed that the sound of the R9 changed compared to just listening to the R9, as if the bass had a strong impact, and the treble seemed to be smooth and the sound in general became smoother, more analogue, even more natural.
I listened to this on Roon
